I think the NFL and college football should adopt the college baseball approach.
1. You can go after HS
2. You can go JUCO and go after year 1 or year 2
3. If you sign with a D1 school then you're there 3 years (unless you turn 21 before your 2nd year)

Um, except for the after high school part, this is exactly how football works. You can go after your HS class would have finished their 3rd year of college. Guice is in that year now.

As far as going to the NFL after high school, good luck with that. You can probably count on one hand the number of players that were both physically and mentally ready for the NFL at 18.

I would. I think the average NFL running back career is less than 3 years. Why give up your body for free?

Has to be. As we have learned, players taking pictures near cars is definitive evidence of cheating

You are missing the entire point of this thread.

Why not just reduce college required years from 3 years to 2 years? Was Fournette ready for the NFL after HS? 2 solid years of college is good enough.

Yep, he’s taking a Fournette year.

Nah it’s kind of the opposite. Fournette was trying to play hurt all year and finally called it quits when it truly didn’t matter anymore. The most criticizable move of his was insisting on playing the UF game because of the pregame scuffle, and even there it’s Orgeron’s fault for caving. Fournette was clearly hurt and ineffective that game.

Guice’s interviews before the season were all about getting to the league to help his family out, and now it seems apparent that he’s mailed it in. Unfortunate to see from a guy in a leadership position; a good insurance policy would surely have been a better move than sparse and completely pedestrian junior film.

It appears he went ahead and put on a few extra pounds for "the League" as well.

Only if you had no fingers on that hand. I can't think of a single player ever that could have survived in the NFL straight out of High School.

But I think he is realizing he actually needs to get back on the field and do something so I expect him to play soon. Orgeron not going to allow gim to just skip practice and then go play a game every now and then.

I think that is what Saban preaches. The best way to help yourself and prepare for the draft is to actually play.

I don't disagree, but there's probably some freak of nature out there somewhere.

true, but this just further proves that there is no need for a rule against a player trying. if the player isnt ready the market will bear this truth.

Fournette started something and it is a cancer that will grow on college football

Its already grown to HS Basketball. The idiot daddy Ball has pulled his kid from HS just to train the kid and let him play AAU

I posted this in another thread. Applies here:

LSU fans won't admit this but I think the influence of LF7 last year was a cancer on this team. The way he packed it in last year, showed his as at the UF game, then disappeared on the team come banquet/bowl time had to have rubbed off. By signing with an agent and cutting & running showed the next group of draft-eligible juniors to place self over team.
The two biggest preseason stars for LSU have now missed sizable chunks of the off-season and games with unexplained issues and lingering injuries.
Again, Tiger fans won't admit their once in a generation talent may have been a locker room cancer, but where there's smoke...
