Why should I cheer for Bama? frick the Gumps.
The South Carolinas, Mississippi States, Kentuckys etc of the SEC always get accused of riding the coat tails of other teams' successes. Then come bowl season it's expected to cheer for the conference ?
frick that shite.
Go Sparty!

You need to step away and just think about baseball for a couple of months.

It used to make sense back in the days of the BCS where a team could get left out if their conference appeared weak.

I pull for a few sec teams in bowl games but have a handful I love to see lose as well.

I agree, they all recruit the same players just about. How does that help my team?

Yes. I don't really care who wins out of these four. If anything, I think Oklahoma winning it would make our game next season a little more interesting, so I guess I'll root for them.

I think hiring Boom is the dumbest concept ever.

Ask the Big 12 if perceived conference strength (which is the basis of SEC conference pride) matters?

Its still that way, if ppl think your conf is weak and you pkay weak comp, good luck getting in the playoff
So yeah.. Roll Tide and everyone else in their bowl games

Dumb, but the four team playoff has kind of added emphasis to it.

I largely agree with you - however - given the relative decline in perception of the SEC this year, many pundits discussing the "down SEC' and that the B1G being the strongest conference this season top to bottom, would not be terribly upset to see Bama win either. Not going to be "rooting for them", but not actively pulling for them to lose. Would be ok with a Mich State win... do not want OU or Clemson though.
Strength of schedule still seems to be the biggest deciding factor (given that Iowa is getting left out with an undefeated regular season and a hell of a performance last night against Sparty) but conference perception will still matter as well.

I've never been an sec touter. That said, I'll be rooting on bama because I enjoy the drama that unfolds here when they win.

There's this thing called division pride that Ole Miss and Arkansas like to bring up.
It's worse.

Sec loss in first round again = SEC devalued. Next year, your team is 11-1 SEC champs. 1 loss ACC, Big 10, big 12, pac 12. Your team is left out at #5.
Will this happen next year? Probably not, but if the trend continues, it will certainly hurt all SEC teams.
