Les Miles. One title, numerous title game appearances and way more wasted talent than Saban.

A historical review of his losses at Michigan State and LSU says both these boys need a talent edge.

No.

But people using last night's game or him having "only" one national championship is being pretty naive about how hard it is to win an NCAA Tournament.

Nah. Calipari is pretty much the mirror image of Pete Carroll to a tee. Mixed results ihis first go-around in the pros, charismatic, vacated results, only one national championship, etc....

The talent argument is so damn stupid. Tell me any coach that wins with a bunch of 2* and 3* guys. I'll wait.....

I think a more accurate statement would be that Saben is the Ashley Judd of football.

While you're doing reviews of historical results at head coach, do me a solid and tell me about Orgeron's results?

I'll hang up and listen

I wouldn't even say talent edge his one and done experiment is back firing. Every advantage an experienced team has for the tournament his will always lack

He has managed a National Championship, a NC Runner-Up, 2 Final Fours, and an Elite Eight in 7 season with what "failed experiment".

Chris Peterson

Mike Belloti did back in the day

Mike Riley

Mike Leach at Tech

Seems like guys named Mike don't need 5* across the board to be successful.

Pete Carroll started just compiling 5* across the board from recruiting services after 2003/2004 titles and from 2006-2008 and they were full of selfish prima donnas looking for the Pros - no emotion or cohesiveness. Like Alabama last year...Pros in waiting, Cal has always had that problem too. Just a waiting room factory for the next level...it's not a great long-term strategy and we are seeing the cracks for both coaches.

This argument would've been valid if Cal wasn't in year 8 at UK and hadn't been using one and dones his whole tenure at UK. The average tenure for a D1 basketball coach at a school is around 4-5 years.

He's doing just fine.

No. Cal is a master recruiter, but in football, even with 5* guys, you get multiple years with them, in basketball you do not.
