Assuming he survives the traitor episode with Drae, and all of the other TPOS activities surrounding his team, I think he will have a long road ahead to rehab his image. Winning will help, but there may come a point down the line in which UT will have to decide if it's worth the PR cost to keep him.

If (and that's a big 'if') Tennessee has to get rid of him, I hope it happens sooner, rather than later. As in before the season starts. And Hart should be gone too, regardless of what happens.

He won't survive the current crisis.

UT will be forced to cut ties to him. He will disappear to the
smaller school circuit but will have a cameo in the inevitable
30 for 30.

Just bring VOLS back and everything else will be forgotten if the allegations are false.

Bruce Pearl was not damaged goods and he was banished to AU. So Butch will be the new AU FB coach when Gus Bus is fired.

God, I bet this entire situation is a kick in the nuts for Vol fans. You think you're starting to turn the corner and then this comes out.

Butch is never going to win big here. When this is all said and done, we may have a legitimate chance to upgrade at head coach and AD. But we would blow it by waiting too long to take action.

But no one any better wants the job. Lyle was like the fifth choice.

If we handle this like I expect us to, that will be the case again. We need this to either blow up or go away as fast as possible.

There should be no more Gruden to Tennessee noise if Butch is canned. That crap makes you guys look bad.

Butch might be OK if his Vols quit raping and give up pedophilia. Of course, the less Butch speaks the better.

It would be a mistake to fire Butch before they get rid of Hart. They can't let Hart make another hire.

Yes, because the talent, experience, depth, and program culture is exactly the same as what it was in December 2012.

The 2013 team was possibly the least talented and deep team we've fielded in our history, and Dooley had implanted losing, quitting attitudes in everyone involved with the program. Our team now has possibly a top 10 level roster with more proven talent than most SEC teams, and players and fans are back to expecting success. If a vacancy by chance did arise, we'd have coaches lining up for the opportunity to win at a major program right away.

He's either a troll or just has a really negative outlook on things.

Tennessee has a little depth but not as much talent as you think. Dobbs will be gone with possibly Kamara and Hurd. You have an avg OL, Phillips and Barnett with Tuttle and an out of shape McKenzie, Darren Kirkland is your only know LB and a average DB class. UTs depth/talent is smoke and mirrors just like Jones

Not at this time you wouldn't... if this drags on throughout the season, maybe? I don't envision coaches jumping ship to take the reins on a team with division and possibly conference championship expectations in the middle of this kind of turmoil. If you throw this season out, many UT fans (along with myself in some of the 16 prediction threads) have already pointed to a pretty steep drop off (not to 2013 levels, but still significant) for 2017. Not saying he is gone, but given the timing of this, it would be very bad for the Vols. You'd likely have a coordinator operate as interim coach for 2016... if they performed well, you might get stuck with them as a coach for 17 as well... if they don't, now you're looking at talent drop off + new coaching staff.

Is there any way Tennessee can get out of the contract without having to pay the huge buyout?

I'm sure there's a "morality" type clause or something to that effect, so probably if this all goes shite sideways further.
