First off I'm not talking shite because obviously you've whipped our arse the last eight years. But watching the Defense this past year they seemed slower. Do any Bammers concur with this or am I just drinking too much moonshine?

Those fat daddy 260 pound linebackers aren't helping them especially with thier "why can't I keep my head on a swivel" corners.

The only years we've had a vicious defense was 2009 and 2011.

Two of the best in the history of the program. 2009 squad had 6 AA's and 3 on the defense.

2011 had 3 first round draft pics on the defense ALONE. All others can be considered mediocre to Alabama standards. Which I don't have a problem saying our last 3 defenses have been meh-mediocre.

Having guys like McClain, Hightower, Upshaw, and Mosley have spoiled us at the linebacker position. Don't find many guys 240+ that are still that fast.

Of starters/basically starters:

Dont'a hightower
CJ Mosley
Dre Kirkpatrick
Dee Milliner
Mark Barron

5 first rounders

Upshaw was the 3rd pick of the second round

HaHa didn't play with the 1s, but he was also a first rounder.

They were a LOT slower at MLB, so your eyes weren't deceiving you.

About the same everywhere else on the field.

I've been wanting lighter players on defense for several years now. They're all so damn big, of course it's gonna slow them down. With so many teams doing HUNH it's inexplicable that they haven't slimmed down.

I don't think they were slower overall. Just slower in the wrong positions. And weak in those same positions. One corner was slow because of a knee surgery. Not sure why we couldn't play somebody else faster. MLB had a guy that looked overweight 3 years ago, and never looked otherwise. Perry always looked a step slow running also.

I didnt think that we had a problem with out front 7 being slow this year. Our secondary was slow at times this year, though.

What does this have to do with LSU or John Chavis?

Bama's problem was at the CB position opposite Cyrus Jones. The SS position or whoever was opposite Collins, and with whoever came in on nickel/dime . . . and with the slowness of Trey DePriest.

The front was rock solid and faster than we've had.

DePriest is graduating, so we'll be faster next year.

We've recruited a bunch of overrated prima dona's here lately,
especially on defense. They beat their chest and think they are greatest but get burnt by 3 star players from other teams.

Bama needs Ragland to come back bad. Real bad. Without him this will be the first year in a while we won't have a signal caller on D that is seasoned.
