that Pearl could not have success at? I'm not talking final 4 success, but a winning record in the SEC. The guy had never had a losing season and now has 2 at Auburn and season 3 is quickly unraveling. He has to really be questioning his decision to come there.

I'm sure these super young players will be dominating the SEC soon, but it shouldn't take three years to make an SEC team at least have a winning conference record if you are a great coach like Pearl.

He'll never get over his first love, which is Knoxville

Nope. He could be equally unsuccessful at Bama, Ms State, Ole Miss, Georgia, South Carolina, Missouri, LSU.

None of those schools are inept as Auburn at basketball.

I don't know what the deal is at UGA, but I doubt he would be successful there. The facilities are good, the state is stocked with talent. The only thing I can figure is that recruiting is difficult because there is not much of a history of success.

Well, he's dirty as hell when it comes to recruiting so he'd do just fine in our talent rich AAU state.

As much of a shithole that Knoxville is, it's better than Auburn.

Has nothing to do with current situation. He's got better players and better facilities than any coach at Auburn has ever had. It's on him at this point.

People still underestimate how bad of a situation he walked into. Auburn basketball was at a new level of bad and only crumbling more. He's in year 3 of a 4 year minimal rebuild job. He's bringing in talent at a level never thought possible here, support is at an all time high, and facilities rival with just about anyone outside of the traditional powers. Also, I don't think many people realize he's had a completely new roster every year too. We are finally to the point where we can stabilize the roster and don't have to bring in 3-4 grad transfers every year. Right now we are starting a RS Freshman (who of course was injured last game and out indefinitely), 2 true freshmen, and a 17 year old high schooler who finished classes 3 weeks ago. We'll win 15-18 games this year and next year is this year that things have to start moving. By 2018 there will be 3-4 5 star kids on the roster with another 6 4 star kids. And that's when we start competing for conference championships

We haven't made the tournament since 2004 and haven't won an NCAA tournament game since 1973. I beg to differ.
