Taking a look at the total offense for their opponents to date:

Virginia Tech - 111th
Texas A&M - 3rd
Colorado State - 63rd
Ole Miss - 37th
Georgia State - 114th
Kentucky - 104th
Arkansas - 100th
Tennessee - 97th

So these totals arrive at a 79th average total offensive ranking for UA's opponents.

So is this defense the Iron Curtain, or can we chalk it up to luck of the draw? I guess we'll see how they fare Nov. 9th when they face their 2nd top 30 offense of the season.

And you might as well take out A&M because Bama wasn't impressive at all against them. The most impressive game was easily against Ole Miss. A shutout against a Top 40 offense is quite the feat.

Let's be fair though, a lot of that had to do with Freeze not kicking field goals. I will agree though, it was an impressive showing.

Giving up 2 TDs in a month is quite a feat.

Yes, they will be exposed eventually. Along with their O Line.

How much does each teams ranking have to do with us shutting their offense down? Probably not a lot, but its gotta count for something!

This goes straight to my comment on LSU OL.

This is the Key.

If Mett has time, Bama is vulnerable, but it has to be decent time. JFF makes it when he needs it. Mett folds. Literally.

But if Mett has time Bama can be had.

Duke beat VST didnt they?

But yes - the shutout is intriguing.

IMO they are still very good but not as good as past years because of the lack of shutdown corners

Someone do those ranks without Bama included. Guaranteed the numbers will move closer to Top 50.

Also are those numbers scoring offense or total offense?

ETA: Total offense I see now

Quick: Can you name me the only SEC defense to record at least one goose egg on the scoreboard this season?

It's not going to make that much of a difference. 63 might move to 50 or better, but the rest will still be 80-105 or so if I had to guess.

Going for a sixth consecutive season in leading the SEC in total and scoring defense, but please think they're overrated.
