Because yall played a great game today?

Nah, every couple of years there is a team that looks to challenge and go blow for blow vs UK and it looks like it could become a good rivalry. UF, UT, Arkansas, etc. They'll score some individual Ws but at the end of the day they always fade and UK wins another conference title.

Because 5 of the 7 games we've played against each other since we joined the SEC have gone to overtime.

All but 1 since we joined have been great.

Only if Kennedy builds A&M in to a regular in the tourney then keeps the games competitive.

Meh.
It takes more than close games to begin a rivalry.

It's becoming a decent little in conference matchup. IMO it still has a ways to go to become a rivalry like we had with Florida under Donovan. And it'll never eclipse Kentucky/Louisville.

Yeah, Kentucky's "rival" in SEC play is simply whichever team is in the cycle of having a strong team for a couple of seasons.
Florida under Donovan probably pushed it longer than most but going back for a few decades it's been Alabama under Wimp, Arkansas under Nolan, LSU and Tennessee in some of their years of great NBA talent, maybe Miss St and Vandy once in a blue moon etc. . .
Kentucky's rival is the best of the pack and Texas A&M was that this year.

If ATM continues to play well. We are looking for a new rival. It looks like Florida is fading, so someone needs to step up.

It will depend on next year's lineup. It's highly unlikely that any of our underclassmen will jump to the NBA, so the starting lineup next year will probably be.
Tyler Davis (SO)
Tonny Trocha-Morelos (JR)
D.J. Hogg (SO)
Admon Gilder (SO)
J.J. Caldwell (FR)
with
Robert Williams (FR)
Kobie Eubanks (SO)
Tavario Miller (JR)
and at least one impact transfer coming off the bench.

ATM has clearly risen to the top of the SEC this year. Hope they can maintain.

Reading an A&M post is like taking a shite in public. Always remember that a "courtesy flush" is in order

A rivalry in college sports has to include a history of games where the loser sacrifices more than just the outcome of the game. I don't know that it's possible to develop a good new rivalry.
If Aggie had won today and knocked us out of the tourney, for example, that would have caused some heat in the Bluegrass. That's the way it used to be. Anymore though, it just affects seeding in the tourney.
The other factor that generates a rivalry is proximity. A&M is just too far away for UK fans to care that much. Yes, we've had a great conference series so far but I don't think it's generated much dislike for the Aggies.
