The game was traditionally played in Birmingham- but I was just looking and it alternated between Auburn and B-ham for almost a decade before ever being played in Tuscaloosa. Why was this, and furthermore why did the REC allow this?

Legion Field in Bham wasn't really neutral. It was supposed to be for the IB, but Bama played most of its home games there all season long and usually dominated attendance at the IB. This is why Auburn wanted it moved and Bama was cool with it staying.

How would you feel about it alternating between Auburn and Bham today?

Auburn fans aren't as loyal as say UGA fans. Who go into their rival's back yard and create a neutral field environment

Have you been to Legion Field recently?

Alabama played all of its major games in Birmingham until the late 80s. It began move more and more games to Tuscaloosa. The city of Birmingam refused to update Legion Field.

Wouldn't want to. We've fully transitioned to BDS and upgraded the stadium while Legion and the Bham neighborhood have decayed

Aside from your car being broken in to and then the upper deck collapsing, what's not to love?

If the stadium were updated and expanded of course.

Alabama has spent nearly $200 million in rennovations since 2000. Why would it play home games in Birmingham?

It'd have to be in a stadium in downtown B'ham that holds 80K plus.

So in your fantasy world where that's realistic then it still probably wouldn't happen.

The IB is good for the schools to have on campus these days

Really strange fact, a weird quirk of this stadium nonsense,

due to playing at Legion plus the fact that Bama sucked and lost 7 out of 8 from 2000-2007,

in 100 years of history despite having the upper hand in the series...

2008 was the first time Alabama ever beat Auburn in Tuscaloosa

That's why I thought this whole Birmingham thing was strange. There wasn't an iron bowl played in Tuscaloosa until 2000.. That would have pissed me off as a student.

Actually there were two played in Tuscaloosa before 2000. 1895 and 1901.
