Assuming Auburn wins this weekend, would you have believed at the beginning of the season if I told you the Iron Bowl would determine 1st place in the west and the Egg Bowl would determine last place in the west?

Got to love the unpredictability of college football.

Since Bama is one of the IB teams and the EB teams are both from Mississippi, I wouldn't have been shocked at all.

Doesn't the Egg Bowl historically decide last place in the west?

Usually, but there's the frequent occasion in which Arkansas comes in last also

Doesn't ARK have a 2 game win streak on LSU?

Yeah, doesn't change the fact they frequently come in last in the west and idk if LSU has ever come in last in the division

I am surprised that Ole Miss has played so poorly, but was expecting State to tank without Dak. As far as Auburn, all you had to do was look at the roster. They are loaded with talent. I actually picked them against Clemson in 1st game. Auburn usually plays opposite preseason expectations. Look at last year.

I hate anyone assuming anything about UGA/AU.

2 game win "streak"? hardly call that a streak.

now what bama has on LSU is a streak
(figure I would say it first because I know its coming)

It's a rough life man. I wanna enjoy the off seasons but if I am enjoying them I feel like auburns gonna have a bad year. So I guess I should start enjoying the bad ones were we lose talent left and right and make strange unproven hires. Oh well

Eh, this stuff is overstated a little I think.

Two of the top 3 teams in the west most years battling for the west? Not that crazy even in a year like this. Sure, AU expectations were low, but a lot of people predicted us to win 8 games.

Two of the SEC's traditionally bad teams fighting for the last spot? Not that surprising either.

Now, if AU beats UGA and Bama and goes 10-2 and wins the SEC, then yeah, at that point I think we're far enough from expectations that it is a little shocking.

This. Especially considering the injury questions. I just can't force myself to even think about the IB yet.

Maybe fans, which even then most AU posters were praying for 8 wins. Not the media. In most polls, AU and State were typically ranked #6 and #7 in conference.

I guess this is more surprising because Ole Miss was a dark horse to win the SEC and in most polls were behind Bama in the #2 spot.
