Interesting stuff - SEC recruiting rankings (2013) & the first 3 rounds of the NFL draft

I put this together rather quickly, so . . .
In 2013, Alabama finished #1 team in 247s recruiting rankings - through 3 rounds, 6 players are drafted from that class (Kamara is part of it) with 10 overall (if you include Kamara) with 2 juniors and 2 redshirts from the 2012 class.
If you look at the 2013 final recruiting rankings (the first number) and the number of picks chosen in this draft alone, we see . . .
#3 - Florida - 2 picks from the 2013 class (add 2 juniors and 1 redshirt)
#4 - Ole Miss - 1 pick
#5 - LSU - 4 picks (add 2 juniors)
#8 - TAMU - 1 pick (add 1 junior and 1 JC)
#10 - Auburn - 1 pick
#11 - Georgia - 0 picks
#18 - SC - 0 picks
#23 - Miss. St. - 0 picks
#26 - Tennessee - 1 pick (add 1 junior)
#30 - Vandy - 1 pick
#38 - Mizzou - 1 pick
Alabama, LSU, Florida (and somewhat TAMU) have a killer recruiting edge based on these numbers alone. OM (that class kinda fizzled huh?), AU, Georgia, and to a lesser extent SC and Miss. St., need some help.
I think my numbers are fairly close to accurate. Hope so anyway

Daeshon Hall is the only one from A&M's 2013 class who will be drafted.
Myles Garrett is from the 2014 class and Justin Evans (Juco) is from the 2015 class.

That is correct then - Hall is the 1 pick with Garrett being the junior and Evans being the JC

Ole Miss had 4 1st round draft picks from the 2013 recruiting class. doesn't seem like it fizzled, but that's just me.

Recruiting rankings are pretty accurate for the most part.
2014
2 of our 4 ***** from 2014 went top half of the first round.
2013
-Top player T white was taken late in the 1st. Was borderline five star so right on.
-second rated player Ethan pocic went next in Rd2. Spot on, was ranked 57th overall in 2013, was drafted 58th.
-Third ranked player Kendall Beckwith went Rd3. Spot on, was ranked 74th in 2013.
Next year we have 2 guys mocked first round, key and Guice. Both top 100 players from 2015.
It's not perfect by any means, Duke Riley wasn't highly ranked and turned out to be a great player and got drafted Rd3. Dupre was a 5* in 14 and hasn't had his named called yet. But for the most part the better recruits you get the better players they are likely to be. Services are getting pretty good

See, it is kinda difficult to look at like that. Alabama had juniors go early (two of them) last year, but still had 6 go this year. That's what I meant by fizzled. OM's 2013 class appears top-heavy now.

I agree. Then you'll have one or two that make it anyway. Mizzou's kid (Harris) was a 2 star and he was taken in the 1st round.

Also, Bama has been clear #1 in recruiting for a while. Y'all had 9 picks in the top 3 rounds, most by far.
Next best recruiting programs over the last 4-5 years have been OSU LSU and FSU in a similar teir. OSU and LSU finished 2nd with 6 a piece in the top 3 rounds.

I don't think anyone disputes Bama's recruiting dominance but the honors for the class of 2013 does not belong to them. OSU 2013 had 1st round Bosa, defensive rookie of the year, Elliot lead the NFL in rushing, Darron Lee and Apple all get drafted 1st round last year. Second round had Michael Thomas who lead rookie receivers and vonn bell starts at safety. Add those to this years 2013 picks with 1st rounder Garirion Conley and that class may be tied with 08 Bama as best all time

Alabama continues to do much better than the national average at putting 5*s in the draft and in the 1st round.

Leonard Floyd from 2013 class was drafted 1st rd 2016. Brendan Langley was also in UGA's 2013 class, transferred to Lamar, drafted 3rd rd 2017. Attrition for that class was pretty high, about half left.

Yeah, but im not sure that helps your selling point for this year though if a team like LSU can show it each year. A parent can ask: Where are the early guys for this year?

I'm not selling anything. Your post was about "SEC recruiting rankings (2013) & the first 3 rounds of the NFL draft". Since that's the subject of the thread, I noted two players drafted in the first 3 rds from Georgia's 2013 class. Nothing more or less.

D-Line Zou!
It's called player development. THIS is what a non-blue blood program has to do, and we do it. Other programs are bird-dogging our recruiting after our success. But do they develop them to NFL Draft status?
Come to Mizzou, listen to the coaches, work your azz off and you have a shot at the "show".

Beg your pardon. Sometimes I have trouble telling the troll threads from honest discussion. I thought you were trying to accurately represent the numbers. My mistake.
