Just chatted with a Sugar Bowl Committee member. He said he sees the Big 12 adding two teams in the next 4-6 months. I wonder if recent turmoil in Columbia has made the Yankee Tigers reach for a slice of familiarity in these trying times? He wouldn't comment further.

Also sees playoff as:

Alabama
Big 10 champ
Stanford/ND winner
Clemson

barring major upsets

Friend in Memphis swears Memphis is going to join the Big 12. No idea how connected he is to anyone that would know.

Memphis, Cincinnati, USF/UCF, Houston. Those are the biggest potential targets for conference expansion right now. Plenty of arguments could be made for or against any of them

Big 12 deserves to have their best over any conference including the SEC.

Playoff is a joke if a Big 12 team doesn't get in.

I'd like to see Baylor or OSU against Bama and see if they can stop it.

If the Big 12 champ is undefeated they will likely get in. If they aren't then they are likely on the outside looking in. The lack of conference championship game is going to get them again (and again and again until they fix it most likely).

Just asking, but why would a Sugar Bowl committee member have any insider knowledge about conference expansion? Especially with a bowl generally associated with the SEC rather than the B12?

The Sugar is an SEC/Big 12 bowl now. At least on years when not part of the playoff.

I'm warning OM now. If this happens, they're still not allowed to claim it as a major conference loss. If we have to deal with our embarrassing losses, they do too.

I'm not sure that's actually official, though. It's only happened that one time, so there's no trend or anything. Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong, because it's entirely possible I missed a press release somewhere along the line. I love watching bowl season, but you can understand why I might not be a careful observer of who they pick and why most years.

Which is true...in a sense. But that doesn't give me enough to assume a Sugar Bowl committee member is especially privy to the working inside the B12 unless the member has other connections outside the scope of the Sugar Bowl.

Ive said it before.

The Big XII will add Memphis and Cincinnati to build a bridge between West Virginia and the rest of the conference. Both add good hoops programs and both have been decent in football as of late.

Tommy Tuberville coming back to the Big 12.
