...this is a telling example of how the corporations have artificially inflated ticket price face values to a point that the average fan can't support on their own.

In this case, fans are compelled to buy tickets at $75 face value. This price IMO should be somewhere in the $40-50s range. But, since corporate buyers regularly fill a large percentage of seats, LSU (and USC) assumes everyone can afford that price. There is no other affordable option since there aren't any "free" corporate tickets laying around for employees to scoop up and take their buddies.

All I know is, it is few and far between that I pay full-price to get into Tiger Stadium. And usually, I'm getting in on someone's company tickets.

40000 tickets in three days notice is more than most division one schools all season

Who can't afford $75? That's literally one decent dinner date for two. I'm a broke arse med student living on loans with a wife and kid and a couple $75 tix doesn't even make me bat an eye.

What a great point, if you weren't completely full of shite. There are a LOT of tickets priced at $40. The better ones are $75. The premium ones are upward of $100. By far, the most tickets sold have been the $75 ones. There are plenty of $40 tickets available, but people are buying the more expensive ones for the most part.

LSU has nothing to do with it. Prices are set by USC, since it is their game and they are getting the gate receipts. From their standpoint, it doesn't make sense to lower prices to increase sales. One $75 ticket is better than three $25 tickets. Same money, lower expenses for LSU to be deducted from the receipts, and only one-third as many LSU fans at the game cheering for LSU. From LSU's standpoint, it also makes sense because the stadium is only partly staffed, so more fans (without any additional financial benefit to either school) would only stress the resources more or require additional staffing that would only increase expenses.

Meh. The game was scheduled for 11 am in South Carolina. Lots of people had other plans. Plus, to fill a 103,000 seat stadium, LSU relies on a lot of out of town fans who aren't coming on a couple days notice.

I'm not happy about the low sales, but I see what you're saying. $75 is a bit much just to get in the stadium.
And people simply already had plans for the weekend. Not much you can do about it

Kids two months old, he doesn't go to games JUST yet

The reality is the majority of people who complain about not being able to afford any luxuries don't realize how much useless spending they have. Don't get Starbucks for a week and guess what, 25-30 bucks right there. Bring your lunch instead of eating out at work, 40-50 bucks a week. Filtered water instead of water bottles, etc.

You can save 75 bucks from your normal routine effortlessly. Except for the minority who are literally living penny to penny, it's an excuse for poor money management. You can do what you like and pay the bills if you're willing to be selective.

No shite. With all their claimed riches, you'd think they could have bought their way to at least one national championship since 1939. Or at the very least, a top 20 program historically.
