No way LSU goes 8-4 this season. God forbid, even if Fournette gets hurt on the first play of the Wisconsin game, LSU won't go 8-4. But if that happens, with all that talent on the team, then Les has to go.
It's all going to come down to the Alabama game. With Fournette, all the other returning starters, Harris being a year older, Danny Etling being around to push him, Dave Aranda being an upgrade, hopefully Cam Cameron coaching from the sidelines, I don't see us having more than one or two losses.

Easy to say because we've lost 5 in a row (2 in heart breaking fashion).

No kidding? But that doesn't excuse the downward spiral after the game each year.

Bama ain't winning in TS this year.

I hope your right, but our Oline has some huge questions marks and the Alabama D isn't getting any softer.

you do know that the last time we played in tiger stadium LSU outrushed bama. So, LSU has had recent success rushing the ball VS the tide.

In fact three of the four games in baton rouge since saban took of the tide LSU has outrushed bama heads up.

Tigers have run the ball against bama in the past and will do so again in '16.

During the streak let's look at the Yards Per Carry of each team:

2012 BCS Title Game:
Alabama - 4.29
LSU - 1.44

2012 Regular Season Game in Death Valley:
Alabama - 6.64
LSU - 2.84

2013 Regular Season Game in BDS:
Alabama - 4.60
LSU - 1.39

2014 Regular Season Game in Death Valley:
Alabama - 3.66
LSU - 3.27

2015 Regular Season Game in Death Valley:
Alabama - 4.55
LSU - 2.08

Still doesn't change the fact that LSU has OUTRUSHED the tide in TIGER stadium since nick has been at bama.

Doesn't change the FACT that Saban is 3-1 against LSU in that over rated cesspool of filth.

I do not believe LSU has a 2011-esque team, and I think LSU fans generally underestimate the fact that a significant talent gap has emerged between Bama and LSU.

That said, I think LSU has enough talented skill players (e.g., Fournette, Dupre, Dural, Guice) to beat Bama IF we have a good game plan, good execution, and a solid defensive effort. These are big ifs.

We finally returned most of the eligible Jrs and the '14 recruiting class are Jrs this season. This is the most experienced LSU team since 2011. We have Alabama and Ole Miss at home.

Everyone is excited about the offseason coaching hires especially Aranda. He is unproven in the SEC but done well with much less talent.

I'm cautiously optimistic about this season. LSU should finish no worse than 10-2 but I'm not holding my breath. Like you said, it's Alabama's to lose until proven otherwise.

For once our stud seniors returned..

We are returning 18 STARTERS
Perfectly even..

9 starters on offense
9 starters on defense

Not many teams can say that.. Experience means a ton in college football.. LSU's strength coach said for the first time in his tenor LSU had 13 players flip the 1300# tire? Possibly one of the strongest football teams under Miles.. Should be more physical.

Think about who we returned.. such Starting MLB Beckwith.. we have leadership like that of a 2011 LSU team.. and we are as strong as ever because the Seniors returned.

Lots of stars are aligning and if LSU gets DT Travonte Valentine back.. then the Dline gets even more depth.. which is finally a strength again

Another year under Orgeron and him starting to get his recruits in.

Did you know the season prior to Orgeron LSU was last in the SEC in team sacks? In Orgeron's first season at LSU LSU finished tied for 3rd with a&m for most team sacks in the SEC.. and LSU had 1 less game! against a cupcake team.. which only would have padded our stats..

LSU finally has upperclassmen at the QB position.. something else severely lacking. Harris is coming off his first season starting and should have been a 10 win starter as a true soph if not for the cancelled game. He is in his 3rd season with the program and should make a natural huge Junior leap. LSU also has another veteran backup QB WITH NCAA starting experience.. For once they have some experience and depth here..

LSU has the best player by many at RB, yet he is backed up by another 5 star rb who lead the team in YPC as a true freshman and looks the part.

At Wide receiver LSU returns Dural and Dupre is a Junior.. both have high NFL grades.. and to think.. another 5 star, former #1 player Johnson is backing them up.. and in fact he may not even be the #3 guy because of the depth.

LSU gets their FB John David Moore back and healthy.. the guy all the commentators raved about..

and LSU has a Senior stating tight end.

LSU had 2 freshman All-Americans on the line last season.. they were outstanding.. but keep in mind.. the line was young and it affected them late.. they have only gotten stronger.. and the line should be even better this season.

The defense is just flat out as solid as it may be.. considering the guys who returned and the talent.

For once LSU has depth/talent/experience returning on both sides of the ball.

Often times one side is elite and the other is inexperienced.. say like in 2013 where they had an NFL offense, but an inexperienced defense.

I am most excited about 2 of the coaching hires.

LSU gets one of the best DC coordinators to replace a bad one

and LSU gets WR Coach Craig, who I believe is a HUGE upgrade over the former..

I have seen various football draft projections having LSU with around 8 players drafted in the first 2 rounds alone.. That would be like the equivalent of what Ohio St did did this past season.. only better.. and they won a championship with these guys two seasons ago..

Let me put it in comparison for you..

Alabama Returning starters: 7 offense, 5 defense

Clemson Returning starters: 8 offense, 3 defense

Michigan Returning starters: 8 offense, 6 defense

OU Returning starters: 7 offense, 7 defense

Stanford Returning starters: 6 offense, 5 defense

ND Returning starters: 5 offense, 5 defense

Ohio St Returning starters: 3 offense, 3 defense

LSU Returning starters: 9 offense, 9 defense

The main thing is that LSU returned guys that almost always go pro after their Junior season.. Other programs like Alabama are use to studs returning.. LSu of late, not so much.. but they pretty much all did.

It's exciting for us.

Over the past 3-4 seasons..

Alabama and LSU have avg out to best like 1 and 2 in recruiting.. along with FSU, I believe.. and maybe an Ohio St.. all have been in positions for championships..and LSU finally returns the experience on both sides of the ball to make the same run. Can't stress enough the balance LSU has returning..

Regardless, LSU has as much talent as anyone.. say except Bama.. but LSU returns more experience..

and in college football.. experience means a ton.. especially for Miles.

I really don't get how you can't see it. Go look at the draft projections.

LSU was thin on both sides of the line, now both sides are a strength. Especially the dline.

Like I was trying to say. In Coach Orgeron's first season he took LSU from last in the SEC in team sacks.. to tied for 3rd with a team everyone thinks is so great on the dline.. even though they get run all over..

He had +15 in sacks for LSU and that was without an extra game..

wow and now another thread just put up the last 5 years recruiting averages

More like Alabama is 1 and LSU/FSU are a distant 2/3. And that's the point.

This year is gonna be a good game, LSU is in one the best positions talent wise that they have been in since 2011 and the same for Bama as well. One X-factor that I dont think many are considering when it comes to Bama, is that when it comes to QBs this is the best roster that Saban has ever had talent wise and when you throw in Kiffin who has absolutely worked magic with some less than talented guys at QB. This year QB could be a significant position of power for us especially when you factor in the murderers row of WR we have coming back.

Dline went from averaging 278lbs to 310 with depth. Gonna be a lot harder to run the ball on this defense.

With all the WR talent that we have coming back and the talent level at QB that we have, I think you are gonna see a more balanced game this year, make just enough throws to run the ball efficiently
