I just don't buy this. LSU got absolutely bullied in the trenches the entire month of November last year. They're obviously SEC caliber players- see September and October- but collectively it's hard for me to buy that they're really that talented based on how things played out at the end of last season. I mean, the consensus on this website prior to the Alabama game was that LSU had the best offensive line in the country, and then they got manhandled 3 times. I'm sure they've gotten better, but I won't assume everyone else in the league sat idly by while LSU improved
We got better, but more importantly we got much deeper on the defensive side. OL has a ton of talent, but its the most "unknown" on our team IMO. I think a lot of getting pushed around at the end of year was Bama having the GOAT front 7 group 2 deep and our spirits just being fricking broken after that game.
Also, Brandon Harris' ineffectiveness in November did not keep any defense honest. They didn't have to "stack the box", but they knew they could play downhill towards the line every single play to stop the run.
And the new scheme on defense will be much different.

And Ole Miss did not destroy us in the trenches like Bama and Arkansas.
Their QB had over half their rushing yards on designed runs and broken plays and Brandon Harris had a QBR of 33.2 and we had 3 turnovers and god knows how many penalties.
And Fournette had a huge run to start the game called back.
That game was just sloppy from start to finish. Awful effort on the road. Bama and Arky pushed us around physically.

I also think A&M holds them under 20 points for the 2nd year in a row
But can aggy score more than 7 this year?

My point of view is this:
The big fellas can only run block 40 x a game for so long without there being some regression. Banged up, tired, frustrated, whatever. Run blocking sucks and November is a ways away from the beginning of the season. OM and Arkansas didn't push them around as much as folks like to think. Bama certainly did.
The defensive side of the ball the optimism comes from Aranda. LBers will be much more active and DL won't be expected to carry the load in terms of getting in the backfield.

I'm just glad we could trick Auburn to taking Steele and paying his buyout so we could use that money to hire Aranda. I get the feeling you could trick Auburn into giving you $10 for 50 pennies.

texag7's logic:
LSU hasn't beaten Alabama in the last 5 meetings so they won't beat them in 2016.
LSU was held under 20 by aTm once in the last 5 meetings, but it will happen in 2016.
aTm hasn't beaten LSU in the last 5 meetings, but they will in 2016.
aTm has been held to fewer than 20 points in 4 of 5 meetings, including 4 in a row, but they will score 27+ in 2016.
The hypocrisy is astounding.

I'd like to think so.
It's the reason why I will not go all in on this team. Les hasn't shown LSU fans that he's willing to adapt from game to game, except for the final game vs TAMU.
I think it has more to do with Harris not coming along quick enough so Les just rode Fournette. If LSU can get the passing game legitimately going early in the season then the OL should be able to take a breath going into Nov.

Same thing every year
Just having college football back and not having to watch basketball anymore (sorry Kentucky)
But in response to your question having most of your starters returning is always a good start to get you excited for the next year doesn't always translate to more success but isn't a bad thing to have.
Road games to Florida Arkansas Auburn and Texas a and M.
Of course the last year we will see fournette in a tigers uni. Should be exciting

-Cam not coaching from an IPAD post getting Cancer removed from prostate
-Another year of development B Harris. Seems like a great kid think it will translate to field eventually. Nice for him not to be injured
- New D Coordinator is definitely impressive on paper
-Returning starters

Donte Jackson the sparingly used dime back. If he is an experienced player, then every team in the conference has talented and experienced players. Therein lies the problem. LSU might have talent and experience, but no more than Georgia, Florida, Tennesee, and Ole Miss, and certainly not more than Alabama
Say all of this again in a French accent.

Regardless of all that, what DOES have have the lot of you excited about this year other than a generally consistent Fournette? Has the defense shown improvement or is there some kind of wrinkle being promised to thrown in?
Same thing that has had them excited for the last 5 seasons.
Hope.
We've seen this movie before. LSU will "look better than Bama" early and "have more talent than Bama", they'll swear up and down that this is their year and they'll beat Bama. Their RB will run all over our defense and they'll end the dynasty.
Then comes the game and their RB gets held in check and they lose. Sometimes in a tight game, sometimes by multiple scores. Should be a tight one this year.
Next comes the excuses. I'mm 99% sure they will bitch about refs. The wise among them will once again bow their heads and accept that Saban is the man, others will hold out for a while. Then come Spring ball they'll slowly start falling back into the belief that it'll be their year. Then eventually they HAVE to be right, and they'll think they're smart for "calling it" when they just keep calling it every year.
It's the same every year. I didn't just lay that cycle out to mock LSU, we've all seen it on here and it always goes the same. Maybe they win this year, they have a damn good looking team, but until the clock hits 0 and they're declared the winners it's just the same sad cycle over and over again.
