I really don't understand how that can be called a 'spear.' Fandom makes us look silly sometimes

Led with the helmet, launched into another player with no regard for either's safety.

Reckless
Stupid
Should be suspended.

That's how they draw it up in a tackling video.

It's very close. I could see it being called clean or a spear. The face mask isn't down but its not exactly up either. As for the "launching" aspect, I don't think that should play into it given that Dobbs left his feet. The defender has a right to go up after him.

I realize that players do it frequently and it often pays off but its never a good idea to leave your feet like that....especially a QB.

ETA: Beautiful hit either way. Hope Dobbs is Okay.

App. St. looked good tackling all night. Once they got a hand on you it was done. They are well coached.

You don't know the rule. Please look it up. The hit was perfectly legal.

What's incredibly impressive is how he stopped Dobbs cold, he is a big fella and was moving forward with great momentum

They looked horrible. Really bad. I suspect they will look better in the coming weeks, though. Too much talent. I never bought into the "Butch is a bad coach." talk on here....but, I am beginning to have my doubts now.

How do you not lead with your head when the other player is above your head? Do a somersault and grab him with your feet?

They got ABUSED in the trenches by a minor league team tonight. I'm not convinced of their supposed talent.

That's how you bring your hips. Coaches should be using that as an example for years to come

It was a matter of perfect timing, and catching Dobbs at the top of his jump with momentum slowing. It looked very impressive. What hurt was probably when they hit the ground, though.
