They're both flakes, but I'd take Saban, because the SEC doesn't cause him to have nervous breakdowns.

No, that's you making jumps to conclusions about what my reasoning is. You can't just take an opinion some has, put your own assumptions of reasoning behind it, then use name calling to make your argument sound better. The world doesn't work that way, my friend. But roll tide roll.

Meyer, he takes care of business the first time and doesn't need revenge games
you do realize that 2015 was a revenge game, after saban humiliated him and made him quit coaching?

Meyer. He didn't need the recruiting clout of a national power to win a lot (He went undefeated at Utah, Saban was mediocre at Michigan State)

You compare Saban's "moral fiber" to either Hitler or Mao Zedong, you weren't clear which one you associated with Saban and which with Meyer. Not that it makes much difference as they both were extremely horrible men.

I respond to you in a reasonable manner in a challenge to the idiocy of your remark.

You claim I blew it out of proportion and put my own assumptions to your statement?

Don't say stupid shite and then whine about someone checking you on it while crying about name calling.

GO GATA anyway.

Saban was gut punching the likes of Michigan, Ohio State, and Notre Dame by the time he left Sparty. That is why he was a hot commodity and LSU came calling.

Saban, but it's close. Both guys learn and adjust. According to everyone around him, he seems to have the edge back. He's extremely determined to get back to being physical, and the team getting the edge back. The offensive line recruiting since Cristobal has been there is evidence of that. It has been otherworldly. It will be very interesting to see the recruiting change in philosophy to defend the Spread come to fruition on the field this year (first year we've really had the guys to do it).

What's funny to me, though, is that you guys still buy the story about Meyer's nervous breakdown. ROFL. His issue was having a little too much fun with a UF coed.

Both guys are great. What people overlook is how much easier it is to be the hunter than the hunted. OSU was EASILY the most hungry team this year. That was very obvious in their play. FSU seems like they had that edge in 2013, and didn't have it with everybody back in 2014. It's a HUGE deal. It will be very difficult for OSU to play with the same edge that they did at the end of this past year.

Unless Harbaugh and Franklin can eventually develop those programs into elite competition, Meyer will run wild in that conference. It will be a matter of winning two game at the end of the year every year. In that sense, he has a MASSIVE edge, and will likely wind up with more NCs than Saban. Not much Saban can do about that. His conference competition will prevent being able to keep up. Never before has anyone had a better situation than OSU and FSU have now. Elite SEC-level programs in jokes of conferences. I admit it. The last part of that makes me jealous.

Urban Meyer never had an undefeated season at a conference worth a shite. 2006 he lost to Auburn (and the next year too) and then lost to Ole Miss in 2008. Then he got DESTROYED by Alabama in the 2009 SECCG.

That being said, Urban Meyer knows how to get an offense going. However, I believe that Urban would not have beaten Alabama with this OSU team any time from 2011-2012. Those teams were too strong on both sides of the ball and 2011 would not have surrendered more than 14 points. Urban just happened to catch Bama in somewhat of a transitional year. It's no excuse, but I'm pretty sure everybody on the rant knows that Nick is not in his prime or top shape at the moment.

Setting their personalities aside (which are reprehensible and probably partially responsible for their ability to succeed) you could pick either one and be content you have one of the two best coaches of their era.

Both have now built two different schools into national champions. Saban fully matured later after leaving Miami, Meyer famously flamed out in Florida (losing control of his team and perhaps his family life if some rumors are to be believed).

If the playoff stays at four (conf champs) then Meyer is in a better position to win both his conference and a NC - but that's not necessarily an indicator that's he's doing a better job in a given year.

Only a matter of time before Urban has another emotional breakdown.

To single Saban out particularly for being out of the ordinary is dishonest. He is a good father, good husband.

Please.........

Just stop with the BS.

Saban is a damn good coach. Damn good. Just leave it at that.

As for the good father, good husband BS. Just stop! You're making a damn fool of yourself.

Meyer is younger so I'd take him.

Saban may coach until 80 though so I could be wrong in my choice.

I agree.

Iit never fails that the alabama fans have to try and turn their coach into mother Teresa. Nick is a prick. Urban is a prick. The character issue is a wash and no bammer fan cares about character or they would not have hired Mike price, let dubose keep coaching after sleeping with his secretary, and fired Mike Shula for having good character but not being able to beat Auburn.

Back to the OP question. The answer is Meyer. He can win anywhere. He went undefeated at frikin Utah. saben needs a big name school and a talent advantage to cover up his gameday deficiencies as a coach. Urban does not.

Most importantly, once the dust settles in 20 years, Meyer will have more titles and a better overall record and will be everybody's choice as the best coach of this generation. No question about it. And he will have done "part of it" in the SEC against saben and there will be no argument for why he is not the best.

Anyone would be happy with either. Living legends. I'm biased so give me Nick Saban.

Easy: Saban builds foundations where ever he lands while Urban leaves devastation.

UGA's AD was at UF during the Urban run and the first thing he did was cancel the game between UGA and OSU when he took over in Athens he didn't have anything good to say about the man.

Saban may build and run but he doesn't have fake emotional breakdowns to cover up his mess he left behind.

I have a "fool me once" attitude toward Saban.

And Meyer has a weak ticker remember? He lacks the chest to coach at LSU.
