If UT does not win the East next year then Butch should go

There isn't any excuse. The division is in shambles. Any team that has a recent history of challenging for the division will be breaking in a new coach, save Florida. Every other team is riddled with question marks and what if.
UT returns almost everyone and Butch's first classes will be upperclassmen. There can't be anymore excuses or wait until next years. They are pretty clearly going to be the best team.
Will he get it done?

I don't really. I fully expect him to herp derp a couple of games he shouldn't.
I'm just saying the "wait til next year" stuff won't have any place next year. Really should have won it this year.

Lyle should have been fired this year after the 4 choke jobs but UT is so poor they can't afford to fire that loser, and no body wants that job anyway. They are stuck with Lyle.

True. I still often wonder how we lost to FSU, UGA, Vandy, and a directional school all in the same season, finished with a losing record, and still somehow continued the streak. Haunting really.

Everyone expected 8-9 wins and second in the east this year, so it seems he's right on pace.

Schedule sets up pretty darn well.
If they can get to the Bama game with no losses, which looks very doable. They'll only have the loss to Bama the rest of the way.
And of course have to play Bama again in the SECCG and get skulldrug around the field.
Still, good season at that if you're UT
