If Tom Herman came to LSU, how soon does he win a National Championship?

I think he wins at least one while Nick Saban is still there...so I'd say in the next 2-3 years.

Does Saban have a health problem that we are unaware of?

would be surprised if it took more than 2 years. Look at Saban at Bama, and his talent was crap. Herman will inherit tons of talent. Bring a QB in year one and Bob's Your Uncle in year 2

Hopefully he wins one before they run him out of town.

I'm not sure why you guys keep setting yourselves up for so much disappointment.

I'm not sold on him unlike most ranters (by most I mean all). Honestly, if they don't pull off Jimbo, LSU is fricked

Are y'all for real though? Do you really think Herman will compete at the top of the SEC within 2-3 years? If so, why? I'm not trolling, I really want to know. I truly don't get it.

LSU doesnt have the talent to win a championship

I think any good coach would compete for titles very quickly because it doesn't require much of a rebuild at all. Now, so much has to happen to win a NC that it's silly to predict one unless Nick Saban is the coach, but a good coach should at least be in contention possibly in year 1. Herman is still an unknown, though. He looks the part but there's always risk involved in a coach that's never held a high profile job like that before. There's really only two "sure things" out there, Meyer and Saban.

Kind of like A&m- LSU every year.

Have Meyer or Saban ever gone to a program and won a natty within 2 years?
Forgive my ignorance, but does that EVER happen? Les Miles won in 2007 at LSU, but everyone agrees that those were Saban recruits. Les still deserves credit, but not all the credit.

Urban did in year 2 at Florida and in year 3 at OSU. Saban won a NC in year 3 at Alabama. And I said compete not win
Chizick did in year 2 at Auburn, Tressel in year 2 at OSU, Stoops in year 2 at OU. If you'll look at NC winning coaches the past 20-30 years, most of them won their first within the first 3-4 years at that school. (Miles, Carr, Erickson, Johnson, Coker, Stallings, Carroll, Switzer, Fisher, along with the names above)
So yes it happens

Thanks. And I wasn't trying to misquote you. Herman hasn't competed at the level that Meyer or Saban have. What makes LSU fans think he will come in and be such a world beater? He could be a total fraud for all we know.

Why would we ever run a competent coach out of town?

And I said exactly that, he's still an unknown, but he would still be as good a hire as LSU could make. Urban was very similar when Florida hired him
