Keep in mind there's only two horses. I'd want 30-1 odds if I bet on Mizzou.

What say you?

If you have only 2 horses in a race it is called a match race and you are not getting 30-1 odds.

Ok - so in a match race, what sort of odds would you put on Mizzou?

In a Match Race usually you are looking at duel favorites - which is why Match Races get run - and both being near even money. It is not a gamblers race and the main reason they have them is to bring in attendance to non traditional gamblers. Think of them as loss leaders to attract betting to the on the other races on the card that day.

I'd take Man O' War.

Huge advantage to Bama, Saban is much more in the jockey mold.

Ok - I get it. Thanks.

Ok - so if Mizzou and Alabama played in a football game, what sort of odds would you need to bet on Mizzou? I'd want 30-1.

Give me 30-1 odds and I'll drop fifty bucks and be happy either way.

Let me ask the opposite. Would you bet $30 to win $1 on Bama? Are you that confident in them?

I'm lowering my odds to 20 to 1. That's prolly more accurate.

20 to 1 is still too high.

I think it is likely that Alabama wins. But I wouldn't risk 5 dollars against 1 - that means Missouri only has about a 20% chance to win. If you're going straight win/loss, I'd say Alabama should bet $3 to win 1...MAYBE 4 to 1. Somewhere in there.

Yeah - You're prolly right, but I still consider a Mizzou a longshot. I'd want at least 10-1.
