If there was no playoff this year, there would be no controversy.

It would be FSU vs Bama and not much argument would be made.
Undefeated defending National Champion vs a 1 loss SEC champion.

And Bama would skull frick them Note Dame style

Exactly. Two undeserving teams get to participate. Stupid format.

Yeah, this 2014 Florida State team is nothing like the 2013 Florida State team.

Oregon would be bitching up a storm. Same controversy, just over a different part of the poll.

There'd be controversy over which "co-champ" would end up the Big 12 rep or something like that.
There's always going to be controversy.

You're crazy. TCU, Baylor, OSU and Oregon would all be in play, as well.
Hell, it might be a bigger cluster than ever with that many 1-loss teams.

So would CUM after Wisky laid down for them last night.

If its ever expanded to 8 then 7-10 will be the controversy.

I'm sure.
Point is, same amount of bitching. Just over who's #4 instead of who's #2. It's just part of the process when every team can't play every other team.

Baylor, TCU, Oregon and Ohio State would all disagree

There are 68 teams selected to the NCAA tourney and there is still controversy about who gets left out.

That Bama secondary is definitely suspect. This could be the Ducks' year.
So, going back to your statement, don't think so!

It's really easy to eliminate this controversy. All power 5 conferences should have a Championship game. 5 automatic bids, 3 at large bids or 5 automatic bids and 1 at large bid and 2 teams get a bye. You can't bitch if you don't win your conference and it would work perfectly this year.
You would have
1. Alabama bye
2. Oregon bye
3. FSU vs Baylor(Technically is the Big 12 Champ)
4. OSU vs TCU (At Large)

All that does is expand the controversy to 10 teams instead of 6.
No controversy would be a 5 team bracket winner of a power 5 conference gets in, #1 seeded team gets a first round buy.

Why? 9/10 times the at large bid would just go to the SEC

TOTALLY AGREE! This playoff sucks.
