can you imagine all the excitement and controversy that would be generated by trying to determine the top 4 teams? Better yet if the playoffs started this year, how would you even determine who gets in with 6 or 7 teams who could all make a case for why they should be in the playoffs?

Many have said it, but I will state it again. Picking teams 3 and 4 will create far more controversy than the previous two systems, BCS and Poll awarded, systems combined.

If the season ended today it would be pretty easy:

Alabama
FSU
Baylor
Ohio State

And I think you'd put 1v4 and 2v3 so you'd get Bama v tOSU and FSU v Baylor.

Pretty certain then you'd get 'Bama v. FSU for the natty. Which is what the BCS standings say anyway. Meh.

I don't have a problem with the 4-team playoff, but I don't think it's necessary either. The BCS worked pretty well, in my opinion.

What really sucks is it will eventually be an NFL-style playoff, and the regular season will be completely meaningless.

If one of the 4 unbeaten teams lose a game, then it would get really messy for who would deserve the 4th spot

What if Auburn beats Alabama and loses the SECCG?

Auburn wouldn't deserve a shot.
