In particular, the new recruits who were bought and still have not enrolled. Do the players on the payroll now lose their payments and does any have to return the dirty money?

The NCAA Manual doesn't address NCAA-imposed probation as an exception to the transfer rules. So it appears they can transfer, but they're still required to follow typical NCAA athlete transfer guidelines (e.g., spend an academic year in residence at the school to which he is transferring; obtain a Permission to contact letter from the current athletics director).

NCAA Transfer terms

I think there would have to be a tremendous occurrence (I.e., NOT a player's current university being placed on probation, which would be stated in the manual as an exception) in order for the NCAA to relax its transfer policies. Penn State is a good example:
quote:

Among the notable exceptions current [Penn State] football student-athletes will see:

* Players will not have to sit out a year if they decide to transfer, they will be eligible immediately at their new school.

*All incoming class of 2012 signees can be released from their letters of intent.

*The permission to contact rules regarding current players will be suspended. Penn State can't restrict a player from transferring and all the player has to do is notify Penn State of their intent to transfer. Other schools must simply inform the PSU athletic department of their intention to talk to a transfer as well.

*All signees and current players may take as many official or unofficial visits as they want during the 2012-13 academic year.

He'd have to sit out a year first.
(and he's a senior)

When the NCAA drops the death penalty (not Ole Miss's weak self imposed crap), He will be eligible immediately and lead Auburn the playoffs

Do the players/recruits have to give back the money?

Lol I don't think Tom Brady himself could lead that garbage dump to the playoffs

Well they did let penn states players who wanted to transfer and they were immediately available so I don't see why not.

Looks like Baylor and ole miss players might want to transfer soon.

Sorry man, 3 year cycle.
Year 1: no expectations, transfer QB leads us to a Championship
Year 2: mediocre season
Year 3: disappointing bad season
Back to year 1

I don't think it is fair to punish kids who have not yet enrolled. Scholarship reductions alone will hamper the school down the road. Set them free and let them find a non paying school. If they saved the money that they were already given, they could have extra spending money for a while. We know that if they were buying some players, they were giving all the rest something as hush money.

Well, to be honest, they knew there was the looming NCAA stuff there and still chose to go there. It's not like this happened overnight. Granted, they were obviously lied to about the severity of the offenses so who knows what the NCAA may or may not do. They are so freaking random in their methods, who can tell.

If ole miss is placed on probation players can transfer with immediate eligibility.

Also, ole miss is not inside a repeat violator window so there will be no death penalty.

A similarly important and just as likely question to consider is:

If the moon falls out of the sky, can a werewolf still turn?

Are you one of those proud Rebs? I was just asking a question. Sorry that you pull for a program that has to cheat to win. That is what happens when you beat Alabama 2 years in a row. Cheaters never win and Ole Mill should have to forfeit all games won from the past 5 years.

Those guys are in a really tough spot. As you can see, most of the contracts we put on these guys are incentive based, with retention bonuses and the like.

Take Tunsil for example. He gets a $2000 car rental for becoming an All American and only allowing one sack in his career. The $305 light bill money only comes after extensive tape review, grade out, and technique improvement.

Unenrolled rookie contracts are a pittance in comparison. More like improperly catered breakfasts and lodging for non immediate family. It just doesn't go as far as it used to.

In short, you should expect mass transfers any day now. Patterson wasn't gonna play this year anyhow, so he'll be alright. I've heard he's looking at Alabama.

Cajun, why should you care? You can't afford them!! With your schools money problems, you are lucking to even have a night game next year due to the lighting costs.
