Does it prove the SEC is down?

Yes. The SEC #8 team is the same level as the big 12 champ.

No it doesn't, but that won't stop SEC haters from acting like it proves the SEC is overrated.

Ole Miss is better than 5th team in the SEC, yeah they had some weird losses, but they beat Alabama and Miss St. I'd say they are the 3rd best SEC team this year at worst.

Agreed, kind of how i feel. I think if Ole Miss struggles to score it is one thing since they are without their wideouts. If TCU moves the ball down the field easily all game then it could prove something more.

Nobody on this board believes that Ole Miss is the 5th best team in the SEC.

They beat Bama and State, they're probably the second best team, TCU got screwed in the playoff

Doesn't prove anything but the way they beat Ole Miss may say something. They're having their way, looks like a rent a win.

I wouldn't say 2nd best. They did get beat by LSU, Auburn, and Arky. Those two big wins were at home. Different story if they were on the road. Probably 4th or 5th best team in the SEC.

Realistically #2 vs. #3, but ole Miss was way better with Treadwell.

Agreed. ND barely defeats the #7 team in the league with the aid of a horrible call but you'd think they defeated 'Bama for the title with all the gloating by the anti-SEC crowd. Granted, LSU shot themselves in the foot and appeared to be caught up in the Chavis issue but they were only 7th in the league this year.
