Championship, would you still be as big of a fan? Would you stop caring at all?

You tell me.

SPOILER ALERT: USCjr won't win a Natty. At least until 2043, which is when I'm actually from.

A Saints and LSU fan in 90's, that's what I actually believed. The 2000's have been great.

6 wins from another Super BowlBowl.
But 2006 on, has been a great time to be a Saints fan. Hell, I got to bartend on Bourbon for our Super Bowl. That's a memory I will always love.

Damn right I'd still be a big fan.

Really, in an odd way, actually winning a title (or 2) kind of ruins things. You go from having a fanbase that's thoroughly loyal, that appreciates the little things, to developing bitchy groups that are never satisfied.

Take LSU- legendary environment, idolized the team. Some of the most cherished memories of older fans are of games we lost- the USC game for example. Sure, "the refs robbed us", but everyone spoke of how electric the stadium was and how hard the team fought.

2 BCS titles later, and we'd hear everyone whining about poor coaching and player development, and how we need a change after that game.

You lose a little of the magic once you get a taste.

Truth. People shite on Aggies for how excited we were during the Johnny years. "3rd in the West" and "Nobody cares about the Heisman" were commonly said here, but we loved it. Once your team expects to win a national championship every year, a lot of the magic of fandom is gone.

It ain't about championships. It's about being loyal to your team through thick and thin. If you don't experience the downs, you can't fully appreciate the good times. That's why I have no respect for bandwagon fans.

I'd cheer as hard as ever. Granted I'm an Alabama fan so I've seen more national titles than 99% see in their lifetime

This. I've been following Bama since 89 (high school, decided to go to UA). It was Good (Stallings), then bad (everyone before Saban), then good again. And it was bad for a long time.

2008 was like a bomb going off. And it's why I repeat it over and over--enjoy the ride, Bama fans. It won't last forever. But EVERYTHING good that happens from this point forward is GRAVY.
