If Saban were to ever leave, this seems like the year

I don't keep up with Bama staff year in and year out, but since I listen to sports talk in Atlanta, I've been hearing all about Smart going to UGA. Sounds like he will bring the S&C coach and maybe someone else - I'm not completely clear.
If Lane leaves for a HC gig too, that's at least 3 coaches, including both coordinators he's going to have to replace. That's assuming no more members of staff leave.
Has Bama had that much turnover in a single season since 2009?
It would seem if he has to go through this much transition, now would be the time to take another position since he'd have to build a new staff anyway.

Bama losing their S&C coach would be a bigger blow than losing Smart.

He's coming to UGA as co-head coach.
Sorry man, he felt it was time for Auburn's other daddy to get some love.

I know because Auburn is the only team who has trouble with Saban!

Saban ain't so bad...maybe he'll stick around for a while.

First Auburn thread of day about Saban. For Heaven sakes you guys act like he's the Boogieman. I definitely would worry more about Gus another 7-5 or 6-6 season next year would be my concern.

We have a lot of turnover every year or 2. He plans for it and develops coaches from support staff and makes a big outside hire when needed. He's tough to work for but he's fair. Work hard and do your job and you're on the way to great things (like McElwain and Smart).
He's not hanging up the whistle anytime soon unless some outside circumstance happens (health, etc). He hates the thought of not coaching. That's literally the only thing he's done since graduating college.

The someone else you're thinking of is Will Muschamp.

Saban, while a good coach, isn't really a problem for AU. The problem is their shady recruiting practices which will continue no matter who the coach is. As Spurrier said:
"If he wants to be the greatest coach or one of the greatest coaches in college football, to me, he has to go somewhere besides Alabama and win, because they've always won there at Alabama."
Spurrier knows what's up. They always win there because they are the dirtiest program in NCAA history. The coach really makes little difference when he is guaranteed the #1 recruiting classes (bought and paid for by the REC). Hell, even Mike Dubose (one of the worst coaches in history) won the SEC championship there.
Shula sucked because the REC was forced to shut down their operations for a couple of seasons (they had just been threatened with the death penalty by the NCAA). So everyone was playing it kosher during that time (and we see the results -- bama ended up a mid to bottom tier SEC program when they have to play by the same rules everyone else does).

I've yet to see him make a bad hire (for the most part) so I wouldn't be worried about it if I were a Bama fan.

I think after our first season we did but most of those were Saban made changes I think.
Steele
Major
Bo
I think that's what we lost after 07.

right but he can go coach somewhere else..
if there was a time, this is probably the time.
rebuilding is more fun for people like him than maintaining.. go do it at a 3rd place for the trifecta and add to the legacy.
let's dream

That's rich coming from 1NC Spurrier, the quitter.
Guess he forgot about Saban at LSU where he won as many NCs in 5 years as SOS did in his entire career.
Sure he won the pussified ACC back in the day at Duke. Cutcliffe almost duplicated that feat and no one is calling him a GOAT.
Oh yeah, Spurrier won the East at USC, but do did Pinkel at Mizzou
