If Ole Miss and Mississippi State continue to recruit at their current levels

What's to keep the Landmass from knocking has-beens like LSU back into the mid-90's and Auburn back into the Doug Barfield era?

You're still not recruiting on a year in and year out level like Auburn and LSU do. That's the main thing that keeps it from happening.

Well, assuming both also contnue to have good coaching then on the field results should improve. But unless Louisiana kids start leaving the state in big numbers LSU isn't going to fall very far or for very long (see 2008 and 2009).
