If Nashville is the new home of the basketball tournament, why not baseball too?

Too far from my house. I can be to the Met in 15 minutes without getting on 150 or 459. Not viable.

So they finally got out of the old shitty Sounds stadium, they have been trying to get out of the dump for over a decade.

Rotate that shite. Memphis first and watch as the four biggest baseball fan bases pack Autozone.

We have been through this. Hoover is a central location. It is a safe, and easy access for RVs. The city has great hotels and restaurants. There is no reason to move it.

There's plenty of reasons. Losing the RV crowd would be made up in new fans traveling to a location not in Alabama.

Went to all 3 games of the opening set for the Sounds this weekend. New stadium really surpassed my expectations in every way. Would love to see it in Nashville, easy access for fans to downtown, parking was much less of an issue than I expected it to be all weekend.

As nice as the new First Tennessee Park is, Nashville is too far out to be a central hub for most SEC schools. Memphis is the perfect location. As mentioned, it's within striking distance of the biggest SEC traveling teams (LSU, MSU, Ole Miss, and Arksans). Ole Miss and MSU fans would have a field day with that brief drive to Memphis.

For LSU, there isn't much of a difference between the Hoover Metro Stadium drive and the Memphis Autozone Park drive. Literally a difference of about 13 miles give or take (via Google Maps) from Alex Box to Autozone Park vs. Alex Box to Hoover Metro Stadium. For the sake of something new, I wouldn't mind Memphis being the new hosting site. Different city and beautiful ball park.

OK, I've done the research and I think Memphis deserves a chance to host the SEC baseball tourney. If the SEC center of minimum distance is Nauvoo, AL, Memphis is actually closer to the center than Hoover. Hoover being 246 miles, Memphis being 189 miles from center. Also, this sounds cool, "Located in the heart of Downtown Memphis, AutoZone Park was named the 2009 Minor League Ballpark of the Year by Baseball America. By combining the feel of such parks as Wrigley Field, Fenway Park, and Camden Yards, AutoZone Park is a state-of-the-art facility with classic, neo-traditional style." Now, one more thing, the SEC needs to work with the city of Memphis to get the Beale Street Musical Festival to fall at the same time as the start of the tourney. This should be doable as they could just swap some events from Memphis in May around to accommodate. This tourney could become really cool and unique in Memphis if done right.

Do other fanbases within the SEC footprint get mad at cities like Atlanta and Nashville that hold the premier conference events? I know other cities get thrown a bone every now again. How does this make you feel?

I don't think so, I can't really answer that for everyone but I don't care.

I thinks it's great that other cities get thrown a bone for basketball and baseball. I think if you are going to rotate some tourneys than Memphis deserves a strong look for baseball. I have nothing against any city/town that currently hosts SEC tourneys.

I spent a lot of time in the press box for the opening series. It's much too small to occomodate the press and media demands of the SEC. That's the biggest issue when it comes to hosting the tournament and the reason Memphis hasn't been considered.

Nashville isn't the permanent home of the basketball tournament, and on that point I don't see why baseball should be stuck in one spot.

Nashville gets the basketball tournament for 8 out of the next 10 years. Its getting close to decision time for the baseball tournament with the Hoover contract expiring after the 2016 event, so could be 2 more years than bye

Are discussions on the agenda for the SEC meetings in Destin this summer?
