Where does it rank in upsets in SEC sports history?

Would have to be number 1 imo. That is truly a David vs. Goliath situation.

I'm sorry but is anyone even considering this is gonna be a close game? I want an SEC team to win but UConn is on a level of their own in women's basketball. This isn't gonna be close

UConn has come close a couple of times to losing. They only won by 3 at Tulane back in February and only won by 2 at Florida State earlier in the year.

Even UConn is capable of an off night. Combined with the fact that they've spent the entire tournament in the state of Connecticut, it isn't out of the realm of possibility that they lose this weekend.

It has a much better chance at being closer than last year... our team is much better than last year and UConn's team took a slight step back... i don't expect a W but i do expect a closer game. Against like opponents the margin of victory was close to the same maybe 4 points greater than MsState's. i'm betting 77-70 Uconn... but i have my fingers crossed

Unless you can defend the 3, I'm not seeing it.

Ive never really looked deep into UConn's run until recently, but here are some good points that Ive seen written on it.

1. When Pat Summit retired from Tennessee, UConn had no equal - on the court or on the recruiting trail. This has created a real lack of parity in the women's game. There's a huge gap between UConn and the rest of the nation - but that trickles down - there's a huge gap between MSU/South Carolina and the rest of the SEC.

2. Women are more likely to be fine with sitting the bench at UConn than starting on a lesser team. UConn gets most of the top talent every year.

3. And there's not that much top talent. The best high school girls' athletes flock to soccer and softball. Coaching girls basketball at most high schools is considered punishment, so most kids aren't getting well coached.

4. Since UConn left the Big East for the American Athletic Conference, there is no conference competition for UConn. They spend the last three months of the regular season playing glorified scrimmages, and working on things for March. Notre Dame has to contend with Duke in Miami in the ACC. South Carolina and MSU get challenged by Kentucky and Tennessee. Maryland has Ohio State in the Big Ten. Stanford has a challenging Pac 12. UConn doesn't play anyone in the conference, and while some teams would be affected negatively, Geno uses it as practice and they get ready for March.

State can defend the 3. State has three advantages in this game

1. the arena will be very pro-MSU (closest team, traveling well, underdog role, locals love Dak Prescott who has been hyping the team) and

2. Guard Play. Its UConn's weakness this year because both their guards are young. State has a lot of experience here and has potential to disrupt that part of UConn's game.

3. Depth. Not because of talent, but coaching philosophies. UConn plays 6 or 7 players. State "has 10 starters."

Not losing by 30+ would count as an upset.

UConn has a girl that is 20 for 26 from the 3 so far in the tourney. That is ridiculous at any level.

I am not saying we are going to beat them tonight but they will lose again. All streaks come to an end sometime. If we play perfect ball like we did against Baylor we stand a chance. We go to have like 2 turnovers and shoot wel. We also have a height advantage in the post over them

We still have the recruits. Hell, we have the number one class coming in, but what we don't have is the coach. I don't think anyone other than the LVs are built to beat them and our coach is terrible. The talent disparity is just too much.

That said, if State pulls off the upset I'll be happy as hell.

It'd be number 1.. for about 72 hours then we beat the Tar Heels to win the men's tourney.
