Missouri will never win the SEC as long as the West exists.

Fair enough.

But if Mizzou were to pull it off within the next few years...would the excuse be that the entire SEC was down?

It depends.

Mizzou wins no other SEC team finishes in the top 5 = SEC is down.

Mizzou wins and both them and another SEC team finishes in the top 5 = legit.

This question seems about 3 or 4 months premature. How the hell is anyone supposed to answer this when there hasn't even been a game played.

I know you don't expect real answers and are trolling, but you can do better. This is sad.

Thanks, Max, for the well thought out response. I'm impressed.

I wish other people would follow your lead.

Haven't you heard? Some talking heads outside the SEC are already saying the SEC is down now.

it's literally impossible to answer considering nobody has played a game yet? How shoudl we know if the league is down or not?

Y'all somehow think that people are ONLY saying the east has been down because missouri has won. That's not true. When we won it in 2011 it was largely due to the east being down, I think we lost to pretty much every good team we played that year. Similar to Missouri of 2014, we lost to probably the "best" team in the division (SC) but won the division anyway. It's not like we're singling out missouri, it's happened many times. Hell, there are some years in the 90s where the west winner was barely above average. It happens.

2013 Mizzou SEC East Title:

Final Rankings

South Carolina #4
Mizzou #5

Therefore the East wasnt down. In fact its only the third time two East teams finished in the top 5 and the first time in a decade its happened.

But yeah...the East was "down"

The East wasnt down in 2013. Some of you all just didnt like the teams that represented the power in the division that year. Some of you will own that and some of you will make illogical arguments because it was USCe and Mizzou instead of Georgia,Tennessee or Florida.

And the only other east team to finish the season ranked was a 4 loss vanderbilt team.

the 2 teams at the top were both legit, but the other 5 were bad. That doesn't mean the east was strong, it means those 2 teams were strong.

Again, yall have security issues in that you think that JUST because missouri won we're finding any way to downplay it.

The last time missouri didn't win it (2012) you had 3 east teams finish the season ranked in the top 10, with another in the top 20. That's a much different situation than 2013.

2013 Mizzou was certainly legit.

I mean, we beat Georgia between the hedges. Enough said.

that's simply not true, see my post directly after yours. In '13 there were 2 teams worth a flip, doens't matter what their name is. The other 5 were largely irrelevant.

Look at the 90s...UF/UT were elite the whole decade while UGA was a perennial 8ish win team and nobody else was even worth wasting breath on. Just because UF/UT happened to be extremely good football teams doesn't mean that the division was all that great. Because overall, it wasn't. It was a 2 man show every year. This website didnt' exist in the 90s though so you aren't seeing people make those comments.
