There has never been a coach with multiple national championships who won their second national title more than seven years after winning their first national championship.

Years between their first and second title

Ara Parseghian- 7 years (1966, 1973)
Darrell Royal- 6 years (1963, 1969)
Bobby Bowden- 6 years (1993, 1999)
Nick Saban- 6 years with two of those years being in the NFL (2003, 2009)
Bud Wilkinson- 5 years (1950, 1955)
John McKay- 5 years (1962, 1967)
Joe Paterno- 4 years (1982, 1986)
Bear Bryant- 3 years (1961, 1964)
Woody Hayes- 3 years (1954, 1957)
Frank Leahy- 3 years (1943, 1946)
Robert Neyland- 2 years (1938, 1940)
Dennis Erickson- 2 years (1989, 1991)
Earl Blaik- 1 year (1944, 1945)
Bob Devaney- 1 year (1970, 1971)
Barry Switzer- 1 year (1974, 1975)
Tom Osborne- 1 year (1994, 1995)
Pete Carroll- 1 year (2003, 2004)

The good news is Bob Stoops has gone 15 years without winning a national title and he has a good shot at winning a championship this year. So maybe not all hope is lost for Miles. But history shows that it's very unlikely Miles will another national championship at LSU.

If Miles wins another national championship, he will have cemented himself as the greatest troll in SEC coaching history.

After a coach wins that first one, fans are impatient and if he has a dry spell he's either run off or retires.

Would be interesting to see a list of how long coaches were allowed to hang around after winning one before they were shitcanned or retired, like Fulmer, Stallings, etc.

Or what was the longest tenure a coach had at a school after a championship or his last championship (Bowden, Joe Pa, etc) before he was gone.

Maybe LSU could cite an obscure National Poll that came out before 1/9/12 that named them NC. Seems to work for others.
