And also fricks over LSU, keeping them out of the tournament...I don't see the downside.

Could they actually pull it off? It would be impressive to go from a projected 2 seed to all the way out of the tournament in about 5 or 6 weeks.

Texas almost did it in 2010.
They were #1 at 17-0 and ended up as an 8 seed, losing in the first round.

The more we lose, the more likely that we become a "bad loss" for those seeking tournament berths. When a team, like LSU, is squarely on the bubble, they need every quality win they can get. Right now, their only quality wins are Kentucky and A&M, both at home. With 9 losses already and at least 3 more awaiting them (Kentucky, at Arkansas, SEC Tournament), the worse A&M does, the less this recent win means, especially if we Kennedy it up and end up 19-13, missing the tournament completely.
