They aren't going to hire someone to lead the program that has been an utter failure everywhere he's been with the exception of as OC with bama.
He was pretty successful as an OC with USC, too.

And he brought a lot of energy to UT for that short stint. he's also a hell of a recruiter.

I would not wish Kiffin on any school other then those folks down in Austin, and even then I'd feel dirty about doing so.

quote:I agree, but lets dive deeper. I have always been the one that thinks the AD will be fielding calls from all over the country when Saban retires, I mean who wouldn't want a cupboard as stocked as Bama's. The thing is, what elite coach is out there that can man the ship? Urbs is the only other coach close to him, maybe Harbaugh.
he won't. Alabama is at too high a level right now to get anything other than a proven, top notch head coach. If they do end up hiring a coordinator, it's going to be one with a proven track record like kirby. They aren't going to hire someone to lead the program that has been an utter failure everywhere he's been with the exception of as OC with bama.

After this season Bama isn't going to want him around

Please let this happen.

Weren't some of you the same people arguing with Tennessee fans that Kiffin's failure at USC had much more to do with the sanctions that the Trojans were under?

Don't know who was doing what. I just know what I have seen. What I have seen is, he has not proven to be even a decent HC yet. He is a Will Muschamp. Great coordinator but not even considered a decent HC.

Dear God,
Please let this happen.
Please don't let me laugh too long and too loud when Kiffin gets those inbred clowns their long deserved death penalty.
Amen

Doubt it. You can only hope. If an AD didn't already notice that Muschamp knows D, he should probably be fired.....just like thinking because kiffin is a good OC then that must make him a good HC.

He was 28-15 in 4 years at USC. That's at minimum "decent", especially given the crippling sanctions they were under. Tennessee fans absolutely LOVED the guy right up to the moment he left. They told us all how great he was going to be.

Muschamp inherited a better situation at UF than Kiffin did at USC, yet Will went 28-21 at UF in 4 years (lower winning % than Kiffin).
Compare Kiffin's 4 years at USC to other "good" college coaches and their first 4 years at a school:
Les Miles - 28-21 at Ok State (worse winning % than Kiffin at USC)
Gary Patterson - 32-17 at TCU (worse winning % than Kiffin at USC)
Steve Sarkisian - 26-25 at Washington (worse winning % than Kiffin at USC)
I'm not saying Kiffin is ever going to be great, but he is certainly better than Mushcamp was and should be classified better than "decent".

People will give Muschamp the benefit of doubt because of the state Meyer left Florida in. He and Lane are both high on people's lists. They may not want to go to certain places, but they will be contacted.

the head coaching candidates for the Tide, once Saban leaves, will be a list of the truly elite head coaches in college football, like Gary Patterson, Jimbo Fisher, Bob Stoops, David Shaw, etc.
maybe, maybe not. I guess you don't remember past Alabama head coach searches. after Bryant, after stallings.
hiring a HC is all about timing. many of the coaches you speak of have a great gig where they are now and would just use their name to get a raise from their present school.
following a legend has been the "kiss of death" in many a coaches career and at any level.

Kiffin or Dabo.....
Either way, its gonna be fun.

If Kiffin becomes Bama's HC that program will be in shambles in 5 years, probqnly because of NCAA violations.

Yes and no...more than half of his recruits were gone within 2 seasons.
