Very large qualifier, but is there a chance Florida could backdoor into the CFP?

Couple other things have to happen I think. I think Clemson has to lose again. And Washington would have to lose again.

But it's theoretically possible.

Yes because the committee values conferences champions. I would think Florida would be chosen over Bama but it'll depend on the optics of the wins as well. But fret not honky, cause y'all will not beat both FSU and Bama. Y'all should have lost to LSU.

I don't think there is any chance.

Oklahoma and Oklahoma State play in two weeks. One of them will still be above Florida.

Washington would have to lose another game.
The winner of Ohio State and Michigan, would need to lose and lose bad in the Big Ten CCG and fall below Florida.
Clemson would need to lose again.
Wisconsin would need to lose again.

As it sits now, prior to the new release, Florida is at #23. I would imagine Florida only moves up to 15 or so in this weeks rankings.

I did not go on a posting spree of "I don't care" 1000x after the UF win.

Your melt was awesome.

If Bama beats Auburn they get in even with a loss to UF, unless somehow UF blows out Bama, but UF doesn't have the offense right now to blow out anybody.

They've got a 50/50 shot at FSU I think. Probably a 10% chance against Bama.

Be curious to see where Florida is ranked tonight. If Florida is in the Top 15 then yea, definitely a chance. However, the problem is that each of their wins will dramatically reduce the cache of their opponents (except for Alabama).

FSU goes from 3 loss Top 15 team to maybe Top 25 4 loss team. LSU won't be ranked at all tonight.

So, all of a sudden Florida's wins are down to Alabama (best win in America) and maybe #23 Florida State? That's basically it. And, on top of that, they got blown out by 4 loss Arkansas and 3 loss Tennessee.

So........it'll be tough.

And this isn't a low blow to Florida fans...but they've played two SEC West teams this season...They beat a 6-4 West team 16-10 and lost 31-10 to a 7-4 SEC West team. Their other loss is to a Tennessee team that hasn't proven to be as good as once thought.

At the end of the day, without beating Alabama handily, which I don't think is possible, the best Florida can do is a NY6 bowl. Clemson, Washington, Wisconsin, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Penn State, Colorado, Southern Cal, all have better resumes over the course of the season than Florida.

I don't understand the hate for your question. It's a legit proposal, granted, I don't see your team beating Bama either, but who knows. If you win out, you're in.

It's possible but honestly, Florida has no business in the playoffs. Just like OU last year or maybe worse. If UF is one of the 4 best teams then college football has hit the shites.

As of right now Florida has (per Sagarin)

1 Top 50 win
1 Top 30 win
1 Top 10 win

If they beat FSU and Bama they'd have

3 Top 50 wins
3 Top 30 wins
2 Top 10 wins

As of RIGHT NOW :

Top 30 wins
Alabama - 5
Ohio St - 3
Michigan - 3
Clemson - 3
Wisconsin - 3
Colorado - 2
Penn St - 2
Washington - 1
Oklahoma - 1
Florida - 1
