If Death Valley is such a great venue, why do LSU fans always leave it early?

I've seen this happen way too many times with MSU being the latest example. You would think LSU fans would support their players and coaches by at least finishing the games.

Can you imagine if Les was your coach

Our fans suck, for the very most part.
However, every once in a while, for a big game, our fans will stay the whole game and really make that place electric. At its best, it is the best atmosphere in college football.
On average, it is simply the typical stadium atmosphere of an upper-half SEC school.

You only get to sit in those seats 7 days a year. I have never understood people leaving early unless you are up by 50 or so.

Here come the miles haters blaming him but that's not the case imo. It's a trend n a lot of places numbers show. I think 25 out of 27 years we've beaten state. Happens vs opponents Lsu fans are used to beating or expect to win. U don't see that vs ole miss bama Arkansas a&m etc. at least not nearly as bad

It's Deaf Valley. Clemson originated Death Valley sometime before

I thought it was obvious. They ran out of booze.

But the traffic is soo oo bad.
They should be able to get 100k people out of there in 10 minutes.
That's one of the excuses used. Never-ending that baton Rouge traffic is shite every day of the week

This is very accurate and not an LSU fan characterization. The opinions of pundits with no dog in the fight have stated as much ad nauseam.
I do have a theory when it comes to lesser profile games, however. Most other teams play their lower profile games during the day. LSU always has these games at night. By this point people have been out tailgating all day in the heat, a lot of them drinking.

I left the Mississippi State game at halftime cause it looked like it was gonna be boring. Kinda wish I had stayed.

Why does it bother you so much if the fans of another team leave a game early?

TJGator1215, it's embarrassing to admit it, but you are spot on. I hate our suck arse fans.
One contributing factor is the elaborate tailgating that goes on. Now, our tailgating is quite impressive. Big money and lots of time and effort goes into these tailgate set-ups. Even if you are just visiting the tailgate parties, you are still getting there many hours before the game.
This is all relatively new, at least in scope and scale. LSU built it's reputation as an intimidating venue many decades ago. I don't know when the tide started to turn, but in the '80's and prior decades, the focus was on the game, not the tailgating.
Most people left their houses around 4:30 or 5:00 for a 7:00 pm kickoff, and parked relatively close to the stadium. That left you with the morning and midday to take care of stuff, and you didn't feel so tired by the time the game was half over.
I don't know what the answer is, but we are definitely struggling to maintain our reputation as an intimidating venue, a reputation that was mostly earned by prior generations.
