Im sure most HCs in the conf would rather not play GT every year as long as Coach PJ is there

F that. We could use another W every year. I'm for it.

Hell, they'd probably be the second best team in SEC East this year in football

Maybe third...maybe.

The melt by LSU fans would make it worth it.

Cause I love what ifs:

Assume NC State and Virginia Tech were added to the East. I'd guess Missouri moves West. So I'll list a prospective East, with my guesses for permanent West opponents.

South Carolina
NC State
Virginia Tech
Florida - LSU
Georgia - Auburn
Tennessee - Alabama
Vanderbilt - Mississippi
Kentucky - Mississippi State

Florida is always bitching about playing LSU (and vice versa). But it has been a thing since '71 or so.

That leaves Missouri, A&M, and Arkansas from the West to still slot. I'm cool with Missouri or Arkansas, but one of the new guys has to take on the Intra-Continental game with A&M.

Still I dunno. Auburn in the East seems like such a good idea, but no idea how you make that work without putting someone like Tennessee, Vandy, or Kentucky in the West.

Expansion isn't about teams, it's about territory. How do people not know this?

That was undoubtedly true in 2010/2011 when ESPN was still doing well and people still subscribed to cable.

Interested to see how this thinking has aged in the cord-cutting world. ESPN has had massive layoffs in part because they way overpaid for the rights to SEC and other sports in the past 5 years.

I don't necessarily think the next round of expansion will follow the same mantras as the last. I think it'll have more to do with team brands and followings than geography.

First off, Oklahoma and Oklahoma State are not tied by the state legislature. A simple google search will provide many articles refuting this "Fake" news... OSU Not Tied to OU "The Educational systems do not go to or answer to the Oklahoma State Senate or State Congress."
Additionally, 2015-2016 Oklahoma was ranked #6 in total athletic revenue, which would be #3 in SEC, and rank 8th overall in strictly football revenue, and #3 in projected value (behind Texas and Ohio State). NCAA finances Again...just a google search away.

Still think the West would have been a better spot to put you guys though. My pet peeve is that geography really needs to matter more. Auburn to the East makes more sense, instead of kowtowing to the Gumps.

& what would your solution be: to end the Iron Bowl or 3rd Sat. in Oct.? I'm sure Bama ISN'T going to play TN nor Aub. as a non-conf. game.

If the conference expands, they're not going to do so by doubling down in markets they already completely own like Georgia and Louisiana.

They'll look to go to North Carolina, Virginia or Oklahoma.

Exactly.

Why do we have to keep saying this? Its like people don't understand the economics or business of all of this.

We will not expand in an existing market, stop fricking starting threads about it.

HELL no. Good night. The SEC has enough strong "football only" teams. If for some unnecessary reason the powers that be feel two more teams need to come in,get two teams with strong basketball.

Well we might need a couple of bottom dwellers since the conference is stacked as it is. Couple of rent a wins within the conference.

Agreed. We already have too many. Why the regular talk about adding more?

The B12 is going to disappear & I don't see anybody stepping down to FCS. NOR do I see another conf. being created just to minimize # teams (or you're going to reshuffle multiple current conferences to pull teams for that newly created conference?).
