If Briles is brought in, will Sankey step in an nix it?

For the folks suggesting Briles, I can see Sankey stepping in and nixing that. With all the rape issues it seems the SEC home office would step in and stop LSU if that is the direction they headed in. Just too much bad media baggage to head down that road no matter how much he wins.

By this January Art Briles can get a job anywhere in America (except maybe at Baylor or another church-owned private school. Those guys might wait ANOTHER year before hiring him). This is business in a [relatively] free-market economy. He gets a haircut, puts on a little cologne, goes into the metting (with the applicable university president, atheltic director, conference chair, whatever), says, "I hate what happened. I was naive. I'm an optimist regarding human nature. I've always believed in giving a guy a second chance. Ironic here since it's what I'm asking for. It'll never happen again. I'm ready to educate young men and win some football games." BOOM.

At the top just can't see any college president taking that kind of liability hit.
Penn State cost over 100 million in hard cash and at least another 100 million in soft money. Looks like at least 48 plaintiffs at say 3 million each and you are already at about 150 million. The Penn State plaintiffs were about half that number and they got 5 million each.
What president or board of trustees will take that liability?

Louisiana people are Catholic. Briles and the Catholic church are a good fit.

I have catholic relatives in Louisiana and pretty sure they think folks like Briles are not good as representative for LSU. Pretty sure anybody, catholic or not, with daughters, will not think this is a good thing.

If he is cleared of wrong doing and it is found that it was a ESPN lead witch hunt i wouldn't mind it.
I think having him come into br and consult the rest of the season wouldn't be a bad move. Sure ESPN would get its panties in a wad for 24 hours but then something else would happen and everyone would forget.

That's definitely not happening. Art knew exactly what he was doing when he brought in other program's rejects, who had been kicked off their teams for insidious behavior. He just crossed his fingers and hoped it wouldn't happen again, which is bullshite. Also, when there's allegations of coaches showing up at victim's homes to try and convince them to not report incidents, it's hard to believe that the head coach wouldn't have known about that.

Briles is unhireable. Too many decent people would boycott whatever program made that hire. If A&M hired Briles, that's about the only they could lose me.

fwiw doesn't saban bring in guys like that, I seem to remember him taking a kid from UGA and then that kid getting in trouble. It wasn't rape but don't act like other coaches don't bring in problem kids.
