I didn't think he got the 1st down. Ohio State won the game. Should have won it in regulation with the missed fg. Michigan fans have a reason to be angry.

I dont understand why the refs didnt at least Brice the chains out to measure for the first down? It would have likely been enuf for the first down but to review the spot and then not even measure was pretty shitty IMO.

They reviewed the play and still said it stood.

OSU went for it on 4th and 1. Looked he was short but they called it 1st down. Reviewed it and the call stood.

Well it was the first series of OSU's OT drive so they could just check whether it was past the 15 yard line or not. You can use that as a very clear marker.

Chains aren't needed. Point of ball just needs to touch the 15 yd line.

Because the first down marker was the 15 yard line (10 yards from where they started). There was no need to measure.
It was really close. I don't know how anyone could say definitively whether or not he made it. Football needs to consider using more advanced technology to mark forward progress.

Agreed. It's 2016. Soccer has goal line technology to determine what a goal is. The NFL is adding pylon cameras. NCAA needs to step up their game.

Agreed, the ball didnt get past the linemans butt, which was sitting clearly on the line to gain... if the ball didnt get past the lineman standing on the first down line, how was it a first down?

They got hosed when they didn't get pass interference called against OSU
