Than a great coach that's a slime ball. I pray to the LSU gods that LSU doesn't go for a guy like petrino, briles, or kiffin. they would be a quick fix on offense, but their so dirty I think they would run us into the ground in the long run. something tells me lsu will grab one of the three

I heard Les to LSU from my sources. should be legit because everyone on the rant right now thinks LSU is signing every coach ever.

LSU can still pull a Billy Donovan. "Oops. Our bad. Takesy-backsies?"

No no no no

I don't care if he's a nice guy, I want someone willing to adapt or change when needed.. to try.. and be more of an x and o coach.

It's going to be tough to get a guy better than Les.

You have tell the new coach to outperform a 77% win record and win 3 conference championships and two NC appearances within 10 years. Oh, and get great talent and be classy. Oh, and add in a shiny, sparkly offense.

Good luck. But the best guy just left LSU.

Wrong.. Look at last few years 9-9 in sec and horrible offensive production. Can't develop and recruit qbs.. Too much talent for 9-9..

This "talent" you speak of is rated by a group of guys at a handful of camps each year, and on higlight tapes while they play against high school competition, most of which will never play division 1 football. Truth is, you don't know what kind of talent your recruiting classes have until they reach the field. Stop using this talent excuse, it's flawed

What about making NFL rosters or draft projections. "Talent" is not only judged by recruiting rankings. Lsu has plenty of talent.

I'm not arguing that they don't have plenty of talent. That's not what LSU fans are arguing either. Most sec teams have plenty of talent. Having the most guys in the NFL tells us the had a ton of talent

Pretty sure LSU currently has the most players in the NFL, so the talent argument isn't really all that flawed.

I actually agree with you, geauxnavy. And I don't mean this from the "obviously your rivals don't want to see you get a great coach" angle. I am saying if I were an AD at a bigtime program, I would want someone other than Briles or Petrino because you're bringing in someone with a negative mark before they ever arrive. Maybe after a search you decide that you can't find someone else comparable and you take the risk, but I would look elsewhere in the beginning.

Kiffin is also a risk but for a different reason. He doesn't have moral baggage (at least not established like the other two), but he has a history of failure as a top man. There is good reason to believe that he was thrust into high profile head coaching gigs before he was ready, and now he has more experience and maturity. There is also good reason to believe his personality and demeanor just isn't head coach material and his ceiling as a coach is an outstanding offensive coordinator. I suspect someone is going to hire him soon and we'll see which is true.
