Auburn just rushed for 236 yards against aTm. UCLA put up 130+ rushing yards on aTm.

aTm ranks tied for 53rd in the nation in total defense
aTm ranks 8th in the SEC in total defense
aTm ranks 53rd in the nation in rush defense
aTm ranks 7th in the SEC in rush defense
aTm ranks 71st in the nation in pass defense
aTm ranks 8th in the SEC in pass defense

Is this improvement? Looks like another shitty defense to me...

They've given up less points. That's what their claim is based off of this year.

Most teams ahead of us have played 2 cupcakes

Unlike Arkansas, we've played two power 5 teams and one cupcake

Typical of you to cherry pick apples to oranges comparisons

aTm ranks in the bottom half of all meaningful defensive categories. Rush defense. Pass defense. Total defense.

Is that good? 3rd and Chavis?

It doesn't need to be. Our defense last year was good enough to beat a better Arky team than yall have this year.

You played PV A&M and a team that has not won a home game against a P5 team in nearly two years.

La Tech won 9 games a year ago and since the Arkansas game is putting up huge offensive numbers on fools.

You can sugar coat it all you want, but your defense is still soft butter.

Arkansas gave up almost 600 yards of total offense to Ken Trill and TCU FWIW

They also got to play La Tech with their backup QB

They went from having virtually zero defense to having a really shitty defense.

No wonder they love Chavis and their "improved" defense.

They averaged 4.4 YPC (included about 80 of those yards at the end by Franklin when the game was over and they were letting him run around)

They averaged 3.1 YPC

Pretty sure most teams would be happy with those performances.

This years team is much better. Sorry to burst your bubble.

The offense is better this season, which is proven by the SOS and better offensive output so far this season.

Stop living in denial, there is no defensive improvement in Aggie Land.

South Carolina State and Texas Tech - a terrible 1AA team and the worst defense in D1A

aTm ranks 14th in team defensive efficiency, which actually factors in stuff like strength of schedule and "garbage time."

aTm ranks 13th in the nation in scoring defense ......

.......not that scoring is a measure of who actually wins the game, of course.

Chavis has improved their unit a lot. No way around it. Rush defense still a bit suspect, but they arent giving up points and that's what matters in the end. Chavis has always been very much bend dont break.

If teams get 400 yards a game on someone but only 14 points that's a good defense. Red zone defense has been very good for them.
LINK

Only scored 7 times in 11 trips to red zone, of which only 3 were TDs. Compare that to Arkansas who has also allowed 11 trips to the red zone, 10 of which turned into scores, the majority of which, 7 to be exact, were TDs.

3x4=12

By my math, thats an average of a first down every 3 plays, which is the goal of an offense.

Im not sure teams would be happy giving up an average of 131 yards per game on the ground and ranking 53rd in the country.
