I think Mississippi State will surprise some people.

If you look at Dan Mullen's track record, he has a keen ability to develop QB's. I mean, he took Chris Relf and won 9 games in a year where they played Georgia and Florida, albeit both were in down years for both programs. He turned a 3* TE into a Heisman hopeful.

I think Dan will do a great job of turning Nick Fitzgerald into a solid SEC QB. His skill set reminds me of the mobility of Patrick Towles with a pocket awareness and agility of Zach Mett. He's still a young/raw talent, but I think with the right coaching he could be a very valuable asset to that roster.

Now, don't get me wrong. When I say they might surprise some people, I'm talking maybe 8 wins rather than the common projection of 6 wins. Regardless, I look forward to seeing how the team that is projected last every year, possibly prove some people wrong once again.

Agility in the pocket, not outside. Zett was pretty good at avoiding blitzes, stepping around blocks, finding open throwing lanes in the pocket

I'm expecting a national championship or at least a NY6 bowl. This is our year to make a run in the SEC West.

I think we lose one. That UMass trip is a trap game for our young players. Coming off a big win at LSU, I'm afraid our guys may not be ready. We'll rebound strong against Auburn and not look back tho.

Fitz definitely has the stuff to do it. But if that O-line doesnt improve, we might as well put Helen Keller in at QB

The OL depth does have some questions, but they seemed to pass block well enough for Dak to make some throws. Fitz doesn't seem as thick as Dak, but he's taller and faster from what I've seen. Dan needs to work around that skill set. State has some good WRs for the most part. If the OL can givs him enough time, Fitz can definitely make the throws. I like his abilities when the pocket breaks down, but real production in that facet remains to be seen.

We heard playing in an NFL stadium was a prerequisite for joining the big 6.

Our OL was serviceable last year in pass-pro and god awful in run blocking. Outlook doesn't look much better this year unless some dudes take some big steps forward. WRs are skilled, but we don't have a proven guy with De'Runnya's skill set available on the outside. RB is anyone's guess. TE could be promising. Defense looks solid overall (minus some if's in the secondary).

All that said, DM4L is absolutely correct. The SEC West has been put on watch this season

Oh, Fitz is "thick" alright. Thick headed. I'll be surprised if he ever fully grasps Mullen's offense. He may be slightly faster than Dak, but not enough for speed to be considered a strength.
