I think its safe to say TAMU/MIZ bring more value to tSEC than Arky.

They have the TV markets, the upgraded stadiums and in TAMUs case a better talent base than Arky to compete in tSECw. MIZ brings BBall, better recruiting and facilities, BBQ and once they get a better coach they will be in the SEC hunt. Both are higher in academics, Tamu @ 65. Miz @97. Arkansas otoh has a low population, a subpar history, average HC in fball/bball, very mediocre recruiting, 134 in academics tied with LSU, your rivals Per US news 2012, and ok facilities that compare to UKs. Outside of track Arkansas adds very little to the SEC. Is there anything they have that they are the best at besides running in circles in leotards? Bacon? Baseball? Greeter of the month?

Absolutely. In 1992 we didn't go after Arky. We were supposed to get tamu. Legislation blocked acquisition of tamu. We got leftovers.

Frank Broyles was loved in the SEC being from Georgia and he got the ball rolling to move to the SEC by playing golf at Augusta. Frank got Texas to come with us and we were supposed to leave Texas A&M and the rest of the Texas' schools behind and that didn't set well with the legislature in Texas. This was all started in 1990 on a golf course by Arkansas' AD and the SEC commissioner explaining the conference championship model.

Then the agreement was Arkansas, Texas and Texas A&M but they could not get out from under Texas Tech, Baylor, SMU and TCU. You know very little about history. Pick up Frank Broyles book if you want to know more.

Arkansas/USC > Texas A&M/Missouri.

Arkansas 1 Basketball National Title
USC 2 Baseball National Titles

You see that point about a 7 percent decrease in the value of Arkansas?

Do you know why it's decreasing by chance?

So everyone would agree that of the four expansion teams, Texas A&M was the best choice?

Missouri was a tv market play for sure. Maybe there was side hopes they could be good in basketball consistently to give us another good program with Florida, UK, and Tennessee. LSU and Arky need to get back up too strong programs in basketball again.

You summed it up well, but missed one - they're big on rice production and without a doubt, mosquitos.

They flood all that flat land and grow like half the rice in the country. (No doubt for subsistence wages.)

Of course, the idea originated with a Yankee... LINK

But at least it keeps them busy and gives them an opportunity for some water recreation activities in the ponds and fields between treatments for West Nile virus.

Oh hell yes, rivalry accepted. The Sips screwed us both over.

And once Johnny FuggedUp flames or planes aTm, you'll be the Bitch of the West that you were meant to be.

Oh, Arky was a given.

They've been quietly migrating here for years looking for a better life via the Razorback Railroad.

At some point we'll probably have to erect a border fence.

I think the "Texas really wanted the SEC" thing is greatly overstated by Arky fans and pro-SEC Texas fans thanks to the fact that printed source materials from that era are lacking.

Donnie Duncan, the OU athletic director when the Big 12 was formed, clearly stated during a talk radio interview on an Austin station last week that the other alternative to Texas with the Big 12 formed was always "going west."

It could have been that by that point the administration of Texas shifted enough to change the priorities from the SEC to the PAC, but that is a major shift in just a few years.

I also know (from talking to him) that RC Slocum DID personally call the SEC when the SWC broke up and secured a stand-alone invite from A&M before Bob Bullock strong-armed both us and Texas into the Big 12.

We were always meant to go to the SEC, just like Texas one day will be in the PAC. We just got to our final destination first.

24,000 seat arena (largest in the USA built for college basketball)
9,000 seat secondary arena (historic venue, once one of the largest in USA)
40 million dollar practice facility built in 2007
10 million dollar men's lodge built in 2012
multimillion dollar new locker room in Rupp with the actual floor from the 2012 win LINK

Show me any facilities in the SEC that rival UK's?

Only UT's come close with their brand new practice facility and making TBA look all new and shiny again.
