We started a converted RB at QB and still won the SEC and made the CFP. Trust in Saban.

If a true freshman can win over the confidence of his teammates over the other competitors who have been there before, does this not speak to his leadership abilities to some extent? I understand the counter-argument is not that he has 'it', but the others have a complete dearth of 'it', but I find the former easier to believe for Gump reasons.

Anyone can be a leader. It's just Sims did not fair well in Death Valley and that was one of the worst LSU teams in recent memory. This is a true freshman. No amount of preparation can prepare you for that situation. I will be interested to see how Hurts handles it if he starts.

Meh, he'll have played in Neyland already at that point. It's only noise.

You're going to wish that he didn't start and play against LSWho,his last name LSU will remember because he's going to light your score board up,It's going to look like a pinball machine, Remember his last name
Hurts, That's what LSU fans are going to be talking about It Hurts that a freshman QB hung 40 points on our Defense, All I can say is it Hurts.

Saban could trot out Spencer Pennington and squeeze out an SEC title

No. It's not. But deep down you know that.. You're a smart poster who is optimistic about his talented true frosh QB. Nothing wrong with that

if Bateman is the starter no way bama wins more than 9. U guys are better off putting the better athlete in the backfield with your young backs and find ways to get the ball to your wr's who are absolute beast!! I know cooper is athletic but I think lane knows Bateman won't win the sec as your starter.

True freshman qbs always work out.

Josh Rosen did decent last year and Hurts will be working with a better supporting cast (Kiffin included). There aren't many examples to pull from though.

I think you'll see a blend of quarterbacks similar to what Saban and Fisher did with Marcus Randall and Jamarcus Russell. Marcus started most games but Russell played plenty and even started 4. The question is who will the other guy? Bateman or Barnett? Bateman is super conservative and looks like he will shite himself any minute on the field. Barnett has been a turnover machine in scrimmages but is more talented than Bateman. I think Bateman is the erstwhile starter and Hurts comes off the bench and plays as much if not more than Bateman.

st a month ago, you guys weren't worried at all about your starting QB. It seems now, everyday there is a new thread about Hurts starting.

Words leaking out the running game is struggling. May need more than just someone who doesn't lose the game this year.

worst case scenario 3-1 on those road games.

Ole Miss is payback and winnable for the gumps. Arky has nothing to lose and represents well at home. Tennesee and LSU are loaded and it's personal this year. 2-2 imo.
