...they do have a point about the Florida game this weekend. The game could have very easily been played in Gainesville today or tomorrow which is by far the most logical solution. Auburn and LSU played in 2004 only a couple of days after Hurricane Ivan (a storm even stronger than Matthew) raked Alabama. LSU managed to book a last minute trip to Arizona to play Arizona State shortly after the worst natural disaster in U.S. history affected their state. The argument that Florida couldn't play the game at all this weekend is really weak. Furthermore, why do Florida people expect LSU to just up and cancel a home non conference game that brings in millions of dollars to the local economy just because Florida doesn't want to play the game this weekend?

I really don't think that's ever happened before in sports history. An away team losing a home game because of a natural disaster to the opposing team?

The amount of money involved in canceling an entire home game is staggering.

Not to mention its LSU senior day (think of how much travel has already been booked because of it)

Not to mention how shitty it is to just cancel a football game for South Alabama. The fact that they just get written off in all of this is sad, too.

what about all those people in fl who either lost their home or, a few days ago weren't sure if they were going to lose their home, who also work for UF, and would have had to leave everything to go to work the game? It's more than million dollar coaching staff. There are a lot of people that work for the athletic program that travel to the games. Seems ridiculous to expect all of those people to go work the game on Sunday when they might have other shite they need to deal with due to a natural disaster at home.

It's an easy call after the fact.

That was almost two weeks later. The damage had been done and there was no unknown anymore.

If the decision to play this game could be made again, I think the outcome would be different. But they just didn't know how much damage this storm would cause.

And only a few weeks later, moved the UT game back to Monday, after Rita.
I don't understand how anyone can honestly defend UF, over this. I can understand them saying no, to idea of playing in Baton Rouge, but like you said, play today, in Gainesville, which LSU offered.

I think playing on Nov. 19 is almost worse than cancelling the game altogether. But I've been trying to avoid getting involved in this fight because a lot of what is being argued here is speculation, then no matter what happens, LSU has to go out and get a win. Also, for the worst case scenario to play out, LSU has to then run the table. There's just too many what ifs.

What input do Florida people have on this?

Why should I care when I have been helping people recover for two days?

How many people are really needed to play in an empty stadium? Most of the people needed for that, I would imagine come with eESPN, to broadcast the game.

I agree with many points, but the revenue is ignorant. Money is a zero sum game.

Then why/how was it possible for every other team to get their games in? Who was required to work at UForfeit yesterday while recruits were being hosted?

The arguments hold no water for people in Louisiana who actually deal with the aftermath of disasters on a regular basis. It's quite clear that the SEC office and UForfeit are trying to drum up sympathy after they screwed up.

I bet they hate FSU/Miami even more for playing yesterday - that really blew holes in their case.

You LSU fans keep saying this. That is a flat out lie. The game closest to Gainesville was moved to a different date.

They had known for days that the storm was not going to have much of an impact on Miami. The Miami area was not under an evacuation of any kind. However, most of the rest of the East Coast of Florida was under a mandatory evacuation.

I'm sorry people lost their homes. Unfortunately, that happens in hurricanes. I just think that's a weak argument when so many other games in other areas affected by this hurricane managed to get played this weekend. South Carolina got hit as hard if not harder than Florida did and they managed to play their game this weekend. Matthew. Alabama/Auburn didn't cancel games despite extensive damage after Ivan. Louisiana and Mississippi teams didn't cancel games and suggest the other team blow off one of their home games despite horrific damage from Katrina that was 100 times worse than what Matthew produced. I feel for people that lost their homes but that really doesn't have anything to do directly with the University of Florida and is a really weak excuse.

Point being that many of fans don't give a shite because really important stuff is happening.

I don't understand why uf fans are being disparaged. We had nothing to do with any of this and many of us are dealing with recovery.

The little old lady I've been helping because she has tree through her house says to tell the sec rant to piss off.
