Starting with coaches and players we have shared, Bryant, Stallings, Sherrill, John David Crowe, Dennis Franchione, the Hurricane Bowl from 1988 and the fallout from that, these two schools have so much in common.
Fast forward to 2012 and aTm comes in and whips the national champs. This thing could be, not what UA_or AU or UA or UT but what Florida-UT was in the 90's. A "rivalry" not based on geography but on familiarity which breeds contempt.
Resources, facilities, support, etc are about the same. Also, the Ags brought tons of folks to Ttown last year and they were cool to hang around. Reminded me of when the Sooners came. Just a great group of people. Great fanbase, good looking coeds, like us they eat beef, chicken and pork barbecue at tailgates, speak the same way, act the same and don't cause any problems. Just cool folks to hang around and not obnoxious in the least. I look forward to College station as much this year as I do going to Auburn. Just a good time with good folks.
When we move to the east in 2016 I personally would like to get aTm as our perm opponent from the west. CBS nailed this one by working with the SEC to move this game up and have it similar to UT-UF in the 90's in that it sets the table early in the season. This game has prime time written all over it in the future. I hope not because as Bill Burgess said, college football is played on Saturdays in the afternoon but I just see this game being huge if Sumlin continues to recruit and aTm stays formidable which they should now being in the SEC and recruiting in Texas. I also have the utmost respect for Sumlin. After the game last year he was very complimentary and humble. He handed it to us and deserved to be cocky but he wasn't. Here's to a great rivalry in the making Aggies

While I realize your lengthy post is most likely intended to flame LSU fans, I agree on the point about moving the game up. If we remain good that will be a marquee early season matchup for the SEC West and a great atmosphere every year

It was terrible at this if that actually was the intention.

If there is one thing the SEC has taught us it is that games in September are often blown out of proportion.

This^^^

aTm did travel well last year. There were more aTm fans than Grinders when Miss. State came in and Miss. State was supposed to be the team to "upset Bama."
