He has no support there, his team comes back from a 3 touchdown deficit in the 4th quarter and his kicker whiffs on an extra point and they lose. As much as I dislike UT, I do like Strong because I think he's an honest and good guy not to mention a good coach. UT doesn't deserve a coach like they especially seeing the dumpster fire they threw him into and expect him to make them a nation power again in a year or two

I'm sure he enjoys the paychecks.

Mack left him with a rooster full of 4 and 5 stars, Charlie ran em off, don't forget Mack won 17 his last two years, the cupboard wasn't bare. Charlie made this mess not Mack.

Charlie Strong is the perfect example of why you need to keep some troubled players. He cleaned house and it didn't work. That's on him. He didn't realize that the players he cut had ties to recruits.

No shite, I like the guy but it's hard for me to feel sorry for someone who is basically set up to be a multimillionaire for the rest of his life no matter what happens at UT

Teddy Bridgewater is the reason Strong got the Texas job. He isn't legit.

I hate the good guy narrative the media pumps for Charlie strong like hasn't recruited troubled kids and taken criminal transfers his whole career.

He cut half of Texas roster for the built in excuse, not because they were bad guys.

He sucks as a coach and is getting paid VERY well for it.

I personally hope he sticks around for a couple more years.

The fact that no other coach whom they offered would take it is the reason Strong got the job.
They didn't have much choice.
Most people (outside of this message board) knew the hire was a disaster.

UT should have hired Briles or they wouldn't be in this mess

Strong knew L'Ville wasn't going to be shite either, so he chose to get paid.

I can't feel bad for him because he knew what he was getting into. UT mangled that entire process, from awkwardly forcing Mack out to going all in on Saban only to be publicly humiliated. Charlie took the paycheck even though he knew he was far from their first choice.

I don't disagree.
Additionally, I think many coaches think they can overcome the shittiness that is UTex's administration, AD, and fans.

Things happen for a reason.
Strong is the first wave of operation clean-up.
Saban's job will be much easier now.

Seriously though. Saban would be a foolish not to take the Texas job soon. That's if, how many National Titles Saban ends up with matters most to him. He'd get every top game-changing recruit with playign time to sell. The Texas energy would top all programs on the recruiting trail too. Even without LSU's built in recruiting goldmine advantage. Bama with the right hire, could live off Saban's solid fountain too. So it could be best for everyone involved, who knows?

Be careful what you wish for comes to mind when some LSU fans wish for Saban to Texas. LSU would probably have a tougher time stopping Saban from grabbing LA HS recruits while at Texas compared to Bama chances. Not sure if closer, but Texas' location could be an easier sell to LA recruits.

What is it with some of you guys and star ratings. I mean its not a bad thing to have good recruiting classes but texas is still top 10 every year and top 10 classes can easily win championships with a decent coach. Look at all those 5 stars TN and USC have and they still lose. It all comes down to the right recipe at a program. Strong just doesn't have it..
