AU lost to UGA last season

as the OP has pointed out, what does that have to do with this year?

For this simple reason MsState is gonna run up the score on Georgia... Grantham will leave first team in all the way through 4th quarter and we will beat you 57-9

The post i quoted said that Aub and LSU are better than any teams in the east. Well, last year they both lost to an east team. So that invalidates the point somewhat.

You cant look at the 2017 results because...shocker...they haven't happened yet. Last year is the best indicator of this year.

Bama and everyone else

Right.

I'll put it this way in an example that would go the other way.

UGA beat Auburn 34-7 in 2014 (3 seasons ago). Does that result show any reliable indication of how good those teams will be this season? Of course not. There are maybe like 10 total contributors from that game who are still on AU and UGA's rosters combined, and UGA has a new coach since then.

There is no way to make your argument better. Using one data point when multiple are available is downright ignorant.

Marginally. The East does have Kentucky and Vanderbilt in it, which will always hold back it's top to bottom depth. Ole Miss is headed that way though, so that looks like it will level out a little.

And the East has Mizzou. Ole Miss is gonna get hammered, but that does not make them a terrible team this year. They'll be 7-5 at least. MSU can be sneaky.

Here's my Tier system for the SEC right now:

Tier 1
Bama

Tier 2
Auburn, LSU, UGA, UF

Tier 3
A&M, Arky, UT, Ole Miss (pre-NCAA hammer),MSU, USCjr

Tier 4
UK, Vandy, Mizzou

So the West has:
Tier 1 - 100%
Tier 2 - 50%
Tier 3 - 66%
Tier 4 - 0%

Easet:
Tier 1 - 0%
Tier 2 - 50%
Tier 3 - 33%
Tier 4 - 100%

West is at the top and much more balance. East is much more bottom heavy.

And I used %'s, so its math and, thus, perfectly accurate.

We should probably go ahead and expand the data sample back to 1890 then, since those will clearly give us a better projection.

yeah idk about all that. Arkansas trashed Florida last year for instance. And Tennessee on the road when they were pre-season champs, etc. East is weak. Their champ would be 4-5th in the west most years.

That would be better than using one data point, that's for sure. Sorry you can't grasp that concept.

I would like to change my championship prediction to Yale vs. Princeton. Bulldogs score a TD in the 4th to win 6-2.

Sounds good. Still doesn't make the East as good as the West.

Sorry.

So basically since Georgia got curbstomped by Ole Miss and Ole Miss got curbstomped by MsState... then this year Georgia is gonna get double curbstomped by mississippi state.

sounds about right.

Based on what? If wins and loses over time is not the indicator of inferiority of the east, what is?

BTW, I said the same thing with respect to the aggies. They have been average at best for as long as anyone can remember regardless of the conference in which they resided.

A subjective educated guess based on what kind of team they have coming back and what new guys they are bringing in.

Okay, fair enough. However, even if the east has a stellar year head to head with the west, does it mean that the east is back?

What has been established as a trend will not be shown to have been turned around until enough empirical data has been accumulated to prove it.

Really?

From 2010 through mid-November of 2016, the SEC West was a combined 80-29 vs the East. Further, in the last decade, only Georgia has a winning record against the West.

This Miani Herald article nicely covers just how shiatty y'all have become.
