Imagine if you were Alabama, and you were to switch to the ACC with South Carolina for more money.

How would that go with fans? Would it be right?

No more Auburn or Tennessee. Would you enjoy it?

i havent' minded not playing texas the last few years, but i'm tired of playing Mizzou. That has to be the longest stretch in history of in-conference, non division, non rivals playing each other in a row.

I enjoy playing the other SEC teams. It would not be as fun. I dont care for the ACC that much outside of Va Tech and FSU. The only thing satisfying would be to beat Jimbos arse a few times.

i will add to BPM. I really like the SEC right now. While i know there's some hatred, i can easily root for SEC teams on all other games. not just conference pride, but because i like the fanbases, the teams and the lore.

a site like tRant could have never existed in the Big XII with decent conversation.

Agreed, and it doesn't help that they've owned that aggy arse.

It doesn't really make sense because Alabama is basically the middle of the SEC. We wouldn't be able to play any schools close to us..

I'm sure if Kentucky moved to the Big 10 in football they wouldn't mind.

Florida to the ACC makes more sense.

Ah...the old "imagine it from an expansion team's POV" thing. I like it.

Ugh, no. I'd rather UK went to the ACC any day rather than to the Big X. We'd have more parity in football and the basketball would be amazing.

That's fine. My point was more that it would make sense for schools that are on the edges of SEC country (Texas A&M, Kentucky, Mizzou, USC) to switch to the conferences they are still close to.

ETA: Changed wording.

From Mizzou's perspective, they left a league with their traditional rivals to join a league with none of them. That's the point, except that if Bama went ACC, they'd start playing GaTech again, which has some history for them.

Gotcha. Kentucky is on the edge of SEC country as well as the Big X and the ACC. If we had never been in a conference and were deciding which to go to, I think our fan base would overwhelmingly vote for the ACC.

I know you're thinking about the economic benefits of less travel, but even that would never convince our fan base that the Big X would be best for us. We are way too southern to ever change.

What??

is this something from the kids under 25 thinking?

Except for some media types trying to stir the pot I have never heard someone over 40 say the ACC is a good place for the Cats. BG Parkway takes you to Nashville and all points SW, I-75 take you to Knoxville and all points SE

I think Kentucky actually belongs in the ACC, because they provide nothing in the football world. They may a chance there. Then again I believe duke and north Carolina and Virginia would beat them pretty consistently

What if the conference you were leaving behind had lost 3 members in two years and and had the threat of complete implosion at any minute?

I love the ACC, but it's a bad fit for UK from a fan base standpoint.

We have two traditional rivals there, so that would at least make it interesting. Basketball and academics would be a plus too. That said, I would never want to be a part of that conference.

You have sex with a beaker blow up doll, and make a place for her at your dinner table.

Please stop talking.
