Are we only a devastating terrorist attack away from the American sports landscape being changed forever?

If domestic or foreign terrorists were to attack a college football game and inflict devastating casualties and destruction, how would that attack change the college and pro sports landscape?

Would that be the end of college football as we know it today?

Was it the end of people flying? Or working in tall towers? Was it the end of the Boston Marathon? No, it wouldn't be the end of college football as we know it.

No.

There would be disruption but things would get back to normal. They always do.

I guess where I'm going with this is that I believe a massive attack on a college or pro football game (or any massive sporting event) would scare fans so much that teams would experience an immediate and very drastic drop in attendance and revenue, which would create a domino effect that would affect recruiting and growth.

Won't happen.....why? Can you imagine a stadium full of Gumps (pick another school) allowing a handful of "traditionally dressed" Mooslums to just walk right in?

No. We are Merica and we persevere. The games would be a bitch to get into though. They would probably crack down on tail gating. I'm thinking that there would be a security perimeter set up around the area that the stadium is in. It would be like going through TSA at the airport. No more poking a stick around in a bag for a few seconds. Of course all this extra security cost money and would drive ticket prices up.

Wouldnt really change much other than being able to sneak booze in the stadium and now having to wait in line for hours to get in

I've actually thought about this before and how devastating it would be. Live television, 80,000+ people in the stands, it would be terrible. The safety measures would be increased (metal detectors at the entrance for every game instead of just bowl games) and I think initially people would be scared, but college and pro football fans would continue going to games because frick terrorists, they can't dictate whether or not we enjoy football games on Saturday's in the fall.

There would be a shite ton more security. As it is, the searches are a joke at least where I am. But would it stop me from going? No.

America used to persevere, but now we're a national of pussies due to 6 years of Obama. It just took 6 years to fully castrate mighty America.

I'm not so sure we'd persevere through a televised terrorist attack on a major sporting venue.

At MSU, we would beat them to death with cowbells. Would be horrible. Then next week, all fans would carry cowbells to games.

In right hands (at close range) a cowbell is a deadly weapon.

I've honestly been surprised it never has happened. Seems like such an easy target.

None of that would happen.

sure

but the fact that an attack on a sports stadium has not happened even though the security at the vast majority of events is a joke indicates that the threat of terrorism in this country is nowhere near what the screech owls in Washington would have us believe.

Hypothetical question - What would make someone post words and phrases on the internet that are virtually guaranteed to trigger FBI key-word tracking alarms?

You pretty much just told everyone on tRant how brainwashed you are and how incapable you are of having an intelligent discussion about the state of our country. Stick to the subjects that don't require very high IQ scores.
