I didn't get to see the game. Has Chavis improved the defense drastically like you guys said he would?

It just allowed Jeremy Johnson to restart his Heisman campaign again.

Actually the defense looked pretty good. They allowed for some scores early then really tightened up. I love seeing a defense that can make adjustments and can really get after a team on passing downs.

Overall I think he has improved our defense and was worth every penny. Any problems we still have are due to the fact that Vanderbilt has more talented LBs than us.

He's improved it quite a bit from last year. If we can make similar progress next year we could have a pretty solid D

Our offense is a flaming pile of dog shite

I mean we have talent at the position as long as the injury bug doesn't destroy us next season too.

Is it safe to say sumlin has been figured out by sec defenses?

I watched some of the game when flipping around during commercials. TAMU run D was not very good. If Auburn could have finished drives, it would have been really ugly.

Quit piling on. Little Brother is shell-shocked and I am (currently) a highly empathetic person.

Sigh.

It wouldn't have been as funny if it had been.

It's a little more complicated than that. Sumlin's not really the mastermind at all. He likes to run the air raid, but the offense is Spav's not his. I think Spav has been a massive failure, and Sumlin's attempts to implement a power running game have been extremely counter productive. Even without Manziel, our offense under Kliff is extremely different than under Spav. Johnny Manziel maybe ran one or two zone reads his entire career. We don't run true slants or drags without the receivers running five yards vertically first. We don't utilize the middle of the field. We never do any stick routes. We have the slowest developing offense ever, and that's not a characteristic of Sumlin, that's on this Spav/Christensen hybrid. We did all that stuff in 2012. On top of that, our lineman miss so many blocks because they are focused on the second level. It's been about the worst implementation of a wide open offense I've ever seen. It's terrible. I think Sumlin went with the impossible idea of mixing drive blocking power running zone read with a slow running back and air raid, and he left an incompetent moron in charge of implementation. So the blame is squarely on him, but it's not about his "style" being figured out because no one has tried this "style" until this season because it's so obviously counterproductive no one would want to.

Not really. I mean he never was some sort of wizard, he just adopted the system that local high schools use to ease the transition of talent into college.

The problem is the online. Sumlin's OC from day one was a joke but we didn't notice because we had so many good player from the previous regime.
